Physicality is hurting running plays (with video evidence)

One of the biggest factors has been how difficult it is to run plays. The bumping is creating rugby scrums where 7-8 players appear stuck in grabbing animations.

Watch me try to run this floppy for Redick. When this happens, it is not a fun basketball game to play. I called the play with 20 seconds left on the shot clock, he got open at 4 seconds. When combined with the overly physical and sticky on ball offense, offense lacks flow. Sure you can waggle the right stick, but that's not how basketball game is player.

UPDATED OP:

I'd prefer to have the odd busted play like in the OP if it meant the physicality stayed.

After about 30 12 minute games I'd say the OP happens 2 or 3 times a game. But I see positive things occurring from the physicality probably 30 times per game.

IMO the trade off is worth it.

Late contest on laups matter too much.

Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

Definitely agree on this. Not just the constant bumping, but also the lack of a sense of urgency to get to the spot on the floor is concerning.

You should be able to run 2-3 plays in a single possession if the first one breaks down. Currently, you're lucky to have time to get a quick screen if your first play doesn't lead to an open shot.

I don't see the problem. It seems like the computer was holding him up trying to disrupt the play - as I think a defense should try to disrupt our plays. This happens in real life all the time.

Am I a missing something?

WOW, he ran into the coach on the way down the court, with no one trying to stop him from getting to his spot and then he ran into the referee TWICE in a row! The referee should be attempting to move out of the way for the player in that situation, but he has no awareness in this scenario.

Couldn't agree more. Until a few days ago I thought it was just broken plays, or plays that take too long. I then decided to make a playbook. As you just showed even very simple floppy plays are taking a long time. Aside from the odd physicality I find that guys lack urgency and also where they need to be to trigger plays seems to be an issue. Sometimes guys will literally pointlessly walk around for 7 seconds or longer, to just then stop and move 1 foot to the spot to start the play. It's like that spot on the floor will light their feet on fire and they avoid it for as long as possible. Especially post ups. Guys will go behind then run over the part of the block they are supposed to dig in to and then they finally just concede and call for the pass.

I disagree with this. Physicality is a part of basketball and this replicates the real NBA.

Every play is not supposed to be ran perfectly
