Putback dunk/layups

I'm getting into postion, boxing my man out for the offensive rebound and I go up to do a putback, then ....

I just brainlessly jump into the air and the ball goes straight past me??

My centre is a glass cleaner close to maxed rebounding and with hall of fame putback king, and gold hustle rebounder but it seems everytime I got to do a putback, instead of a regular rebound and then throw a shot up I just randomly jump into the air with no attempt at all.

Anyone have any help?

How high is your agility and dunking ? Are you holding square ? TBH it sounds like you already know how to do it. Usually if my arms flail , it's due to me jumping too early . Try timing your jump a little later.

My bigs fall backwards throwing a one handed shot attempt that never falls.

How high is your dunking ? I find them very easy this year with good positioning and timing .

Re: Putback dunk/layups

My agility stats are quite low, in the mid 50s but my dunking and stuff are like 80s. I get them but it seems like it is 1 out of 4 attempts.

It should be if your not on time you just get the rebound and take it down instead of randomly jumping

Maybe your agility (vert or speed) is limiting you ? Do you box out too or just go for the putback from a running start ?

This. Even without the badge for it the timing window this year compared to 2k16 is massive. Last year it felt like I had to timing it to the exact millisecond. This year there's a second to .5 second window to initiate it. You can do late tips/shots out of high bounces too.

Maybe, but it's pretty limiting, when they all max out at 58 or something. I have had putbacks from both positions. Just seems risky attempting when only 1/4 of the time I could execute it.

Maybe the problem was me being to keen and hitting the button early
