FIXED NBA 2k17 Defense, SIM Basketball is back!!!

So after tireless testing of trying to get sim gameplay out of NBA 2k17, I have finally figured it out!

It's the player badges!

I have removed player badges for both myself and the cpu team and I'm getting organic gameplay!

I left all defensive settings on auto and I'm seeing my players soft hedge Kyrie Irving automatically, Carmelo is shifting to cut Tristan Thompsons cut to the basket!

I'm convinced that badges are only meant for MYPlayer only!

You might just be on to something here. Ive always had a sneaking suspicion about badges being a sim detriment

Curry can't shoot limitless anymore.

Lebron can't chase-down anymore.

outlet passes are gone.

floor general/defensive anchor are gone to help mimic what great players do for their teammates on the floor.

I say give badges to those who are 90 ovr are above. I want as many degrees of seperation as possible between scrubs and superstars.

Players still play like themselves, Badges created over exaggeration with what they affected. Kyrie dropped 34 on me still without jacking up 20 3 pointers.

Interesting, is that stone wall defense still present or do the defenders ride the dribbler now?

They do ride the dribbler, I'm getting defense players actually getting into position to cut off my path instead of the stonewall degense!

On Ball defense is also improved for you as the player, no more unexplained shifting!

Might try this out. This is post patch too? Removing badges would indeed remove certain animations and power boost/cheats and players will rely solely on ratings and tendencies I believe.

I've always sort of thought that, as the game got better at simulating real life, badges should go away.

As just one example, why have some "limitless shooting range" badge when you could just have a rating for maximum effective shooting distance?

You don't actually even need a different rating for mid-range vs. 3-point, if you do it that way. You just need ratings for different kinds of jump shots and then a maximum range modifier. They've already started doing this a bit, I think, by adding in the contested shot rating, which replaces a badge.

Badges are very NBA Live 2007ish

2K went from talking strictly about sigs and tendencies too arcade power boosts..

Keep personality badges, scrap skill badges. Sim is back.

I tried removing badges for two teams. then played a game. it plays soo much better.
