Simple hooks is nearly impossible when playing in pro am/mypark

As a post scorer I try my hardest to get great position to the point I'll be right under the basket. Every time I try to do a simple book by pointing the right stick towards the basket I always get a dumb animation of me trying to force a turn around shot causing me to miss most of the time. anyone else have this problem?

I dont remember for sure, but you need to either let go of the left stick (Zero it) when you do it or hold turbo IIRC. Check controls

Sounds like you're doing a turnaround layup instead of a hook shot. Are you holdin R2?

L2 + R Stick towards hoop = hook shot


L2 + R2 + R Stick towards hoop = turnaround layup

You just too far under the basket. You can have max 1 foot in the restricted circle, but if you have half or more of your body inside, you'll get the forced layup animation.

Try paying attention to your feet and your steps as well.

Try taking a step towards the bucket, then try triggering the hook animation for the back shoulder. I've found taking one step before I trigger a hook or fade animation increases my chance of a green release. when someone is playing physical defense, pay attention to the vibration in your controller. You'll feel when your player makes contact and pushes off of the defender, and can trigger the hook animation afterwards for a cleaner release.

I have an undersized Post Scoring Center. Standing hooks rarely hit clean. The green lights actually bounce a few times before going in. Even when I have an advantageous matchup in the park (My Undersized Center Vs a 1 or 2 guard) a simple "Hands Up" contest will often be enough to negate my shot.

yeah same here, they are useless just like the post fadeaway almost never hits on mypark either

If you got the right timing, the fadeaway shot is MONEY !
Only way to stop it is to either be a Paint Protector with all the badges, or jump on the fadeaway but watch out for the Up & Under
