    Layup Timing

Is layup timing broken or is it just me?

For me, layup timing has nothing to do with the actual layup animation and to properly time a layup you HAVE to use the shot meter and even then its risky.

This is supposed to be, other than free throws, the easiest shot in the game.

    Is it just me?

just turn off the shot meter and play it organically

No it is not just you.

Beluba has confirmed in here that due to lag etc, they couldn't implement timing on lay-ups on release point and instead have implement it on appx the time the feet leave the ground

Definitely not you. The shot meter is bad enough but adding it to layups one of the worst design decisions i've seen in sports gaming. Add latency to the equation and the releases are consistently all over the place.
NOTE: Any and ALL of my suggestions are specifically and only related to Play Now Online.

That's a terrible way to fix something that you (2k) have broken. Layups have almost nothing to do with the time your feet leave the ground. They have to do with when you release the ball, hence the acrobat badge.

Why not just take layups back to 2k16 style, since you know that they don't work the way you (2k) tried to implement them?

just turn off the shot meter and play it organically
The problem is, that doesn't fix anything at all.
The reason that I turned the meter on was to find out what was going on with layups.

If layups and layup timing is broken, turning off the meter in no way shape or form fixes that issue.

The layup timing in this game only helps you, which is why he suggested you turn it off and don't worry about it. Beluba essentially acknowledged it was broken, and actually said there is no layup penalty for late/early releases, only a slight boost if you time it right.

Do you have that quote anywhere?

This is a difficult thing to do because you don't always know what shot 2k is going to hand you.. I accidentally do layups when I'm trying to dunk/shoot/float/etc... and then I have to quickly realize that I'm about to do a layup and start looking at my feet?

                That is asking a lot.

Well it doesn't help. I get solid white bars yet very late shot release feedback and the layup misses.
On greens, they go in, but still feedback says very late.

So the only time that I can be confident in my layup is if its green. Every other time its a crap shoot.

But, let increase the already over powered 3. That makes sense.

QUOTE=Beluba;2048452321]I wanted the release to be later but there were technical limitations that prevented that (latency compensation online to be specific.) so it was either cut the feature or make the release point earlier. We opted for the latter. If you ignore the feature, you should be getting pretty close to last year's layup percentages. It was supposed to basically just give you a boost if you could get good at timing layups but not penalize you if you couldn't get it.[/quote]

It is in the "if I miss another lay-up" thread all over

                      Re: Layup Timing

I don't know man, this is not something easy to check

For sure after relentless finisher badge was fixed and various slider adjustments the lay-ups are much more easy.

Beluba has said that if you do a perfect release (appx at the time the player's feet leave the ground) you get a slight boost. What is that I don't know. I have tried to let go earlier but i can't be sure if this alters my results or not

Actually with all the contact and the crowd it feels a bit random to me when I get a "perfect release"

I am not worried about this at all, and I just try not to hold too much

......so literally just like every other 2k...?

Like the other guy said, just turn it off and don't worry about it. You literally have a quote from the gameplay director himself confirming it.

(Full disclosure) For what it's worth, coming from a glass cleaner C, I haven't had any issues with layup timing. It's annoying, but it doesn't really seem to affect my layups at all tbh. I know AF/Slashers had trouble with that relentless finisher badge messing up layups in the past though.

Precisely. I swear i only get greens on and-one contact layups. I just hold it as if im going for a jumpshot regardless.
