Re: Help with MyLeague / MyGM
I have not played MyGM a ton this year I'm playing exclusively MyLeague, but from what I remember, MyGM is for those that want the type of experience where too much control is not what your after and only want to focus on your team rather than the league. The fun part is that it really is fun managing players, coaches and staff needs/wants while trying to maintain a healthy chemistry and owner goals. The bad part is that some of those interactions can become frustrating and repetitive, but for the most part its fun.
MyLeague is kind of like being the commish/owner/GM/Coach/player all in one type of experience. You can control everything from expansion to rebranding, while you can still do these things in MyGM you have to submit a proposal and be accepted by the other "owners" [cpu owners]. You can jump from team to team at your whim, control to block trades you see as unfit and edit almost everything for any player.
In terms of putting together a roster, it really depends on how you want to play. The league is evolving into a shooting and layups/fast tempo league so you can't go wrong with having players that fit those play styles. I generally have a roster like this:
Starters
PG : Playmaker
SG: Shooter
SF: Athletic Wing
PF: Stretch
C: Rebounding Specialist
The best advice I can give you is too look for valuable bench players 1 or 2 that can step into a starting rotation if injuries hit your starters and can be your bench scorers. I always look for a stretch four [shooting Power Foward] and a SG/PG whose a "3 and D" type of player, basically a guard that can shoot the 3 ball and plays good to great perimeter defense.
