Re: 2K18: Proposed Layup Packages

Great thread

To add to this, DeMar DeRozan needs his "patented" euro-step floater

Re: 2K18: Proposed Layup Packages

i could be wrong but i think layup animations were smashed into 1 "package" to try to cut down on memory usage for ps4/XB1

if 2k were to ever get as "in depth" with layup animations as we would like, they should also go along and add left/right hand finishing separation, there are so many nba players who finish with just 1 hand or majority of 1 hand and give it a rating/tendency and work that into packages. let us select right/left hand animations. youll see great euro-steps but the player will finish strong hand only even if the defender is on his hip reducing the effectiveness then youll see the elite finisher euro-step and finish with his off-hand for an easy basket in the real NBA so why not in 2k?

Yea, they should. They already added a dominant finish hand in the vitals screen for players. That could be the first step.

knowing 2k the dominate dunk hand might factor into layups too

I agree. It sucks doing layups w/ shorter players. I found it funny that even Isaiah Thomas even said something about it today.

I feel Zeke.

All evasive moves for smaller guards have pretty much been nerfed.

Hop step to the opposite side to avoid the big and lay it up?

Nope, the big either sticks to you like a magnet or teleports to where you are and blocks the shot.

High floater to avoid a block from a big?

Nope, clanks off with a full shot meter or gets blocked when it shouldn't because that's the whole purpose of a floater.

Euro? The defender never bites and you can't create space on it anymore.

Or how about the times when it seems like you are wide open and you get the slowest layup animation of all time? Which then gets sent out of bounds?

Re: 2K18: Proposed Layup Packages

i think the problem with euro's is that the animation they use is flawed..its the euro step of some rec center guy, theres no drastic horizontal change and its generally too quick and doesnt include any type of ball fake.

where as, you look at harden and he takes a slow, wide step to the side, drags the ball down and towards the direction he steps, then snaps it back across his body stepping to the other side.

im not even sure if his animations do this or not because ive never noticed it, but i know none of the others do it properly.

i would like "quality" animations over just having more.
