Am I the Only One Who Thinks This?

NBA 2K17's gameplay is AWFUL! I enjoy almost every part of the game except playing it! Shouldn't that be the part you look forward too? Something about some of the animations and the situations they're triggered is such an eyesore! It's hard for me to play it and feel like I'm in a virtual reality. When I play it I almost cringe at some of the stuff that happens on the court. Something needs to change with 2K's gameplay. Animations do not flow together like they used to. The transitions from one animation to another are disgusting! They are not natural. Everything seems so scripted too. I know it's a video game so that is pretty much the case. But what I mean is that nothing seems dynamic! It seems like I'm just looking at the same thing happening over and over again! Everything is so animation based that there is a serious lack of physics in the game. I hate being able to predict the outcome of a play because the same animations are triggered every single time I try to perform a different action. Not to mention the lack of control you have of the user controlled players. These are only a few of my issues with gameplay. The list could go on and on.

Sorry for the rant but I had to get that off my chest. Let me know what you guys think about the gameplay.

Not sure why you have to be like that. But regardless, I have tweaked sliders for 2K17 for a stupid amount of hours! But the sliders aren't going to fix the animation only based gameplay! Tweaking sliders can only do so much. It can't improve the lack of physics in the game or even fix the issues with defense! You can put all the defensive sliders at 100 and the AI still can't play help defense! Also I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've posted a rant in the section of the forums. So I'm not sure what you're getting at with your statement.

I disagree. The on court gameplay is the best of the series so far for me. Only issues I have now is the unstealable rocket passes into the paint for a quick score. No amout of slider editing fixes this; ive tried everything. Also, the dribbling. Im not a stick jock anymore, give me the option at least for the old dribbling mechanic with the moves chained together in rhythm already. But that's it for me.

To easy and no real variety from the cpu. Awful is not the word I use. I cant make it through a full 11 minute game anymore once a week. I use to play(previous 2ks) at least 1-2 a night.

I've gone back to nba 2k16 honestly. It just plays a better game of basketball. The animation blending is miles better. The defense is still sticky but it's much better that it is in 2k17 because you get more hip ride animations. The options on offense and defense aren't as deep as they are on 2k17, but 2k17 is a broken mess with most of those options not working like they should anyway.

The player models look better as they have 7 different body types in 16. There's only 3 in 17, super skinny, normal, and another one that looks almost exactly like the normal one except the torso is a bit different.

The perimeter is free from WWE style grappling off ball, So plays run miles smoother than 17. NBA 2k17 is a train wreck of a game that they're trying to label as a "sim" experience. It's an arcade game with sim elements. I would suggest you go back to NBA 2k16 or 15. Rosters are dated but they're much better games than the piece of crap 2K put out this year.

I know 2k also make a wrestling game but I think it was a mistake to merge them. I know it was a feature they promoted prior to release but it's rage inducing when my center gets pushed around by steph curry and the only way to stop it is by setting a screen????????? Because Obviously my maxed strength, 280lb dude doesn't stand a chance against an athletic monster like curry.

To the OP, I haven't played the game in about 2 or 3 months for the exact same reasons you outlined. There are many good things about the game too, like the depth of the My GM and MyLeague modes. I find myself wishing a game like FIFA had something so in depth. The customization is fairly decent as well with the shoe editor etc. But the gameplay and the systems that they use need a drastic overhaul.

The movement and physics systems were supposed to be brand new on this gen of consoles. I forget what the engine is supposed to be called. But since they mentioned it back in 2k14 I haven't seen anything about it since. Everything is animation heavy, and very little noticeable physics bare employed in any scenario. It means the same situations play out exactly the same all the time. The game becomes predictable, and as a result less exciting. If you try to wrestle with the controls to try to create something unpredictable, you are left frustrated and ultimately turned off. At least that's been the case with me. I've always loved 2K but I think it's lost its lustre and my mind has grown up to the point where so see too many flaws now.
