I exclusively use the square button in 2k to shoot. I can do pretty much all shot types but I cannot seem to figure out how to use the floater. Does anyone know how?

In theory, while on the way towards the basket you would have to pull the left stick back and push square right after that, all while you're very close to the paint and WITHOUT holding the turbo button. Pretty difficult.
Personally I am unable to attempt a floater consistently without using the right stick. -

I kept trying that in practice mode, but everytime my player steps back and attempts a jump shotComment

Yeah I have trouble with this as well. I haven't full trained myself to let go of the turbo button while driving the lane and simply pressing the square button
