Bigs in MC and Playerlock ML

Why is it that when playing as a big in MC or Playerlock ML my guards and wing will insist on passing me the ball to bring it up the court, even though still in traffic after getting the board and I give him a good outlet to start the break or he'll wait for me to cross halfcourt and pass me the ball instead of initiating a play, passing to a wide open shooter or attacking the basket? It's so stupid, I have play initiator off and not a major factor on offense outside of oreb and putbacks and the occasional pick and roll play, I am mediocre shooter, I have poor handles, I'm very slow and but moderately gifted passer yet they seem hellbent on running the offense through me for some dumb 2K reason...
