Re: Westbrook's cyberface
I honestly think my created version of Westbrook from 2k17 is on par with 2k's Westbrook models from the past few years

Westbrook's cyberface
Agreed. I think 2k gets a lot of players right, face scan-wise... This early, in Comparing what we have seen of 2k18 with live 18, I can say that LBJ and Westbrook look better in live. They also have pretty stellar scans for AD, Jamal Crawford, Zach Lavine, Giannis... But, with the rest of the players, I still prefer 2k renditions (most notably the Warriors players, etc.). And, for all the talk of how great the art/lighting is with live (and I agree, this has been always a strong point for them), with great-looking player body models, muscle definition, etc. I've noticed (at least from the demo) that live sorta uses just 1 general lean "athletic" body model for all players, and tweaks them to suit certain players (e.g. taking the general body type and making the extremities longer for KD/Giannis). Everybody is relatively lean, has well-defined muscles, etc. Because everybody shares the same model, basically... Dunno. It all comes down to preference, I guess. I personally like the fact that 2k uses different body types, and tunes them to suit individuals, but this approach is prone to f*ck ups as well. It's just that, in live, for guys like Bron and Russ, the combo of a great face-scan (when they do report for a scan) and that general athletic body type works very well...

LaVine? LaVine looks terrible in Live! I don't know how you guys can possibly think Live looks better. Westbrook maybe. LeBron?! You're crazy man. He has never looked better in a video game than he does this year. They looked pretty great in the Live trailer. But once I got in game and it looked like I was playing an old gen game, I don't see how it's even close.Comment

Re: Westbrook's cyberface
Some very selective photo comparisons in here. lol. We all see people differently. Having met Lebron several times, he's nowhere near as smooth as what he is in 2k. Dude's skin is darker/blemished in a lot of spots, where I give Live a big nod. Others, Like ForeverVersatile see things differently and give 2k a nod, which is perfectly fine. Westbrook however, I don't know if 2k has ever scanned him. If it were "closer" it wouldn't bother me as much.
Regardless, from a broadcast angle we won't be noticing it nearly as much. Westbrook though needs a scan. In 2k, I hate playing against them because he's one of the most recognizable faces in the league, and just want him done correctly.
For me, I personally like this Lebron though (Selective Photo by me)

The textures in NBA Live are way too prominent to the point where it looks very much like a video game and not photo-realistic. Live's versions definitely isn't bad, i just dont think it's better.
2K LeBron with real LeBron side by side.
Live's LeBron with real LeBron side by side
If we're talking about Westbrook, I cant argue with that, he's really well captured in Live 16 and 18.

It's safe to say Lebron is not an issue in either game..Last edited by NINJAK2; 08-28-2017, 04:44 PM.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
