The people that start out at 55 will have already put in the time and the grind so when they reach 85 they will have already earned attributes to go ahead and get to 86 and above. Hopefully it all balances out in the end. No matter what you do in this game you cant escape the grind lol

The grind is alot easier when you're playing with a 85 overall versus playing with a 65-75 overall. You cant escape it but you can make it more tolerable. Just my opinion.

All these comments about "they make it harder to level up when you start as a 55 overall" are incorrect.

It takes sooooo much more time and VC to go from an 85-90 than to go from a 55-70 (the lvl everyone is saying 'You can be competitive at).

Leveling up from a 55 is a breeze. Longer haul to a 99 sure, but let's not act like it honestly takes "til Thanksgiving' to get to a competitive level.

70s can be plenty competitive and 80s can beat anyone. Let's not exaggerate the level you have to be in order to win here fella's.

What do folks consider a good rating? 85 is damn near all-star caliber. If the objective of this year's path is to get to 99, it would stand to reason that it would be made harder, not easier to achieve it. Especially by simply paying ones way to a maximum rating, which cheapens the experience for everyone online and also cheapens the achievement itself.

85 may be near all-star caliber for NBA players, not for your MyPlayer.

2k uses different scales/formulas.

Agreed. Pure Archetypes in theory shouldn't really warrant high overalls since in comparison to NBA stars, they would be Role players. A 90 OVR MyPlayer, would essentially be a 80-83 OVR NBA player.
I was thinking a Defending Rebounder PG should be a 99 OVR player if he is maxed out. At best he should be a 85.

Using the guesstimates posted in the duel archetypes thread Ive done a few players in 2k17 and they come out around 90 OVR with 99 intangibles when maxing out the white caps.

Re: 200,000 VC to upgrade player to 85

If it's 200,000 VC and you're buying the legend gold edition , essentially you'd have enough to start off with a 80+ player. Maybe I'm not getting what the big deal is. I don't really play any of the mold besides my GM and my career. So spending the VC I get on my pre-order to upgrade my player to a respectable level doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. I mean I'm not trying to start at 80+ but in the early mid 70s is worth the VC to me
