Good write-up though man, I agree with most everything you said.  The defense still isn't what it should be though, Live is better in that regard in my opinion.

Gameplay is fantastic, animations are fantastic, Player motion is so smooth.. defense is pretty good but need tweak more better. My League is ton of fun to play. i ignore My Career with VC. it never bother me very much

good article. 2k18 is probably the best on court game ever made, aside from CH2k8; but in some aspects I find 2k15 more representative of todays NBA.

I think this year's game good but doesn't touch 2k11. That gameplay is still the most realistic ever and 2k is going have a hard time beating that game. Or any the ps3 games gameplay wise in my opinion are better than this. But presenation and graphics wise they are good and like the neighborhood. Intersesting new mode I will have to check out, but the I think this is the best for the PS4 gameplay wise. Still need to tweak some things to get better and I still see too much morphing between the players which I didn't see so much the ps3 era.

This is definitely my favorite 2K in terms of gameplay in a long time. If we could just get the MyLeague issues resolved I'd kiss the moon

I think you have on rose colored glasses on for 2k11, that game has issues as well, no 2k game was bugless or did not have some kind of exploit.

I love this game. Gameplay is awesome.

Regarding layups...it's past the point of saying that players are doing it wrong. It's a huge design flaw, period. High percentage layups (uncontested or lightly contested) should be easier to hit than high percentage midrange jumpers. They're not. If it's not broken/glitched, then it's simply a huge design flaw. 2k simply missed the mark on the "control feels" for layups and needs to rebuild them from the ground up.

Yes - it plays well.

But the infection of VC through nearly all game modes makes this a crappy game overall.

I agree. The defense in the game didn't advance or get improved nearly as much as I thought it would this year. Especially after all the complaints about it in 2k17, I assumed it would be a lot better than what it is.

Defense and VC greed are my only complaints this year.
