I wish you guys would post videos to support your post. I can't get my head around what you guys want.

The link above shows me

Now it's Thompson vs Cousin

I back Thompson down near the rim. I hop step/drop step to the baseline. Pump fake once. Thompson jumps in the area. I shoot the fade away jumper. Thompson jumps again he's totally out of the play now. Cousin splash a the fade away jumper. Now if I would of went for the layup here (into his body). I would of got a missed shot or that body dump steal as Thompson comes down. I think what most of the people who support this thread think Thompson shouldn't be able to jump after the first block attempt. Right?

Like later in this same game. Again I have him jumping all over the place.

Well I think the problem is that despite you draining the fade, the game probably registered that as contested because of the second jump. In real life if someone goes for a block, they put a lot of effort into it and there’s no Mario double-jumping. A missed block attempt usually puts you right out of the play. Right now spamming jump in the paint is a very viable defensive strategy - I do it all the time. Generally it’s better to just time your block properly but given the frequency that this game puts you in a 2 man poster animation when you play hands up, I sometimes have better luck spamming especially after offensive rebounds.

Here is the thing though... I totally see what your saying here. But are you saying that a defender shouldn't be able to jump again after he comes back to the ground. Because I think we'll cause a bigger problem. In that defenders couldn't jump again after one block attempt. A lot of guys jump after a block attempt. Maybe they can decrease the chances of it being a block after the second jump. Putting more value into the first block. That makes more sense to me. But what we see in my video is normal play in a basketball game in my humble opinion.

These are the plays your talking about.

I get him off his feet. And then I go with the left hand to use the rim as protector. Because this what you would do in real life as big cut off the defender. This should be a easy 2 because the defender mistimed his block. I'm on the fence to be honest with you guys here. Because I know as a big man in real life that's money every single time. But in 2k I think they are trying to protect cheesy baskets here. Even though my shot is legit here. I think my mistake was I should of pump fake it one more time. And then go with a fade away or hook. Because his body was in contact with mine.

Re: Can we just get rid of "spamming" entirely?

Yeah I’m not really saying dudes shouldn’t be able to physically jump twice. I think the second jump should have less lift, less likely to block or contest the shot, and maybe a slower response time. Right now I can often jump on a pump fake, in the paint, and jump again for a block when the shot goes up.

Maybe it’s a balancing thing, like you said, to counteract all the paint campers. But it looks pretty goofy and it goes against common basketball logic.
