Yea thats how I do it too. The one thing I wish would happen is that theyll let us face scan outside of my player mode

Problem with that is how MyCareer rates your player. For last few years, especially now with archetypes, your OVR ratings isn't a true 2k OVR. Where if you copy your ratings onto a CAP, you're 92 OVR player would be a 78-82 OVR player in other modes. I noticed with my player that besides badges and ratings bonuses, my player didn't play any better at 77 then he does at 90.
IMO a pure build should never be truly be a 99 OVR. In real life at most they would be a glorifed specialist/role player. The focus is to make Pro-Am/online competitive. I can understand to a degree. Wouldn't want to see Oversized all around players all over the court. But I don't see them going away from archetypes. Just hope they expand on it and allow us to create unique players

I think alot of it has to do with them wanting to charge for every transaction you have to make to your my player

I've read that if you transplant your MC ratings over to a created player, their OVR is not close to the same. This makes sense to me because MC is deliberately nerfed to try and balance a massive amount of archetypes and, like you said, it seems unlikely some if not all are nowhere near 99 when "maxed" out.

That, and it seems really unlikely the same formulas for NBA players would work across all the MC archetypes so each one can hit 99 OVR despite their severe limitations in non primary categories. I wouldn't be surprised if the formula isn't even consistent across MC archetypes.

Anyway, I've found it more fun to create a rookie and player lock in ML. I'm not into making my player look unique in the neighborhood, and NBA games in MC are leagues worse than ML ones with decent sliders. No cut scenes to skip, no VC to grind - win win IMO.
