2k18 Info Release Timeline

I was interested in seeing all this info so thought I'd share with everyone. I left out all of the random screenshot/ratings releases (they happened all through August) and classic team additions.

2k18 release timeline:
May 8 - Legend cover athlete released
June 1 - standard cover athlete released
July 17 - new facial hair, haircuts
July 21 - Soundtrack
July 24 - first 2k18 screenshot
July 27 - MyLeague/MyGM Blog
July 27 - Aug 3 - Bunch of screenshot/rating releases
Aug 4 - feedback from gamers who got to play the game (gameplay feedback)
Aug 8 - graphics trailer
Aug 16 - gameplay trailer #1
Aug 16 - gameplay blog
Aug 18 - MyTeam draft mode/salary cap
Aug 29 - AI improvements blog
Aug 30 - offensive tendencies blog
Aug 31 - Prelude achievements leaked (big hints at what career mode will entail)
Aug 31 - MyCareer news (open world neighborhood, two archetypes, practice mode, etc.)
Sep 6 - Prelude trailer

What we've seen so far in 2k19:

June 4 - legend cover release (Lebron) and pre-order details.
July 16-present - screenshots and ratings everyday
July 21 - Ghetto gameplay footage and impressions from youtubers
Aug 2 - MyLeague + MLO + MyGM Blog
Still have another month till we probably get some hard details, but there's 2k18's timeline for those curious.

I'm actually glad you did this. It felt like it was a bit slower to receive info this iteration. Albeit pretty close to par for 2K.

Lol, I was feeling the same way so I thought hey lets see what 2k18's timeline was.

I know 2k does their own thing in terms of release info (i.e. they don't usually do a big spectacle at E3), but damn waiting till July is tough!

I remember last year I was all amped for NBA Live because their marketing cycle started sooner than 2k's. This year is similar. There's some obvious imporvements to Live 19 and 2k is going to have to bring some good stuff to win me back after the disaster that was NBA2k18.

I hope we get better respect instead of a huge VC ad. Hope they're not keeping things under wraps so that we get hit with another "unexpected" huge VC grind

VC$ will always be there. And it will be worse this round in 2K19. Grind is assured to push you into buying VC$ for the easy way.

Meh. I spent less on 18 because I got less value for my $$$. If 2K keeps it up, I'll just move on...

Honestly, I think they shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to late promo. They should be showing consumers areas where they've improved in to give consumers a reason to make a day one purchase. There's too many flaws in the game where it NEEDS to improve and I refuse to make a purchase until I see them.

They don't get the benefit of the doubt from me anymore, that releasing info at the last minute is fine when the product is on point, but the last two years it hasn't been.

I agree with you guys. They were dominating the market so making the consumer wait wasn't a big deal becuase we were all hungry.

I Definitely want to hear news, but not like I did in previous years. Now it just frustrates me.

They were pulling the Rockstar Games tactic by doing their own thing, foregoing E3, etc. Well Rockstar puts out incredible games regularly. 2k doesn't.

Yes I know that's ironic becuase htey're both part of Take Two, but you know what I mean.

So based on last years timeline next week should be when news begins.

July 17th last year was a Monday so hopefully Monday we get a hint of something. Even the hair/facial hair was great to see. Lets hope!

I'm tired of 2k's announcement of an announcement. They hype up the smallest things also. Just get to the point. We want steak not potato chip crumbs.
