Here are some examples of the jab step and creating space in the face up in how it should be. Defenders do not react at all in 18.

Joe Johnson - great examples

Zbo face up, jab, fade shot

Amare - jab and defender reaction

A. Davis

Melo 2:13 & 3:00 marks in video

Another quick melo example

Al Horford

You literally get 20 points and 20 rebounds in the pro am just by being big.

You can literally be an elite stage player by simply picking a build with HOF posterizor and backing ppl down into the paint and pump faking until the game gives you a trash dunk animation that gets blocked once out of 50 times

If you think bigs aren’t fun this year you are booty cheeks sorry i said it

We aren't talking about that cheap pro am example where talking about a big using actual post moves no crappy rebounding and clipping to get buckets

There’s post moves too

Ppl just don’t use them or they play on a team with crappy spacing where they aren’t being allowed to use them by THEIR OWN TEAMMATES because they won’t spread the hell out.

Bad spacing is like my pet peeve in 2k on my pure post. I’ll stop playing with a guy even if we’re winning but he spaces horribly or cuts in too much when I’m trying to make a move.

Pick pure post

Most of this is me going 1 v 1 with no guard help or setup

You can’t make hooks realistic in 2k because it would be unfair to small players who run park without a big. That being said they had no issue with making 3s unrealistic so go figure.

Imo if I’m a pure post and anything but a big comes over i should be able to get a hook pretty easily. Especially if they don’t even jump. That should be 9/10 make rate. Honestly if a guard is on me i should be able to go straight up with no moves and hit 9/10 layups. Relentless finisher helps with that slightly but it’s still too inconsistent. For years if you don’t get the dunk then 2k has kinda screwed your under the rim vs guards. No way in hell i should get the same animations if a PG guards me and if a 7’ 3” center guards me.

Didn't see any real post skill being displayed. I don't have any videos of my post up game but something like what jeebs did a few pages back. That's skill, up and unders don't require stick skill.

I think 2K's struggling to replicate a good post game and I'm not sure I have a solution off-hand. In 2K18, I can count on experiencing some degree of post success if I execute a move that leaves my player really wide open. But things get weird after that. In real life, elite post players like Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, and LaMarcus Aldridge don't need to be completely wide open to repeatedly finish jump hooks and fallaways. But then I guess the question would be: How do you account for that without making post play overpowered?

Mike Wang mentioned in a recent interview how their struggles with establishing a good interior defense system resulted in them having to force gamers to miss more layups than normal to level things out. It's an understandable band-aid but it's obviously affected the post game in the process.

That said, even when I have a very successful game with Shaquille O'Neal, his post performance still doesn't feel very Shaq-like. And again, part of that is my problem because I can't recall how to pull off all the moves I like. It seems like it used to be easier. I guess the first thing I need is to figure out how to reliably pull off the power drop step (not a baseline spin, not just a turn and pivot). It seems I can execute that drop step once every few games but I don't know how I'm doing it. So maybe I'll have to go investigate that today.

Larger point still remains though. I can often experience success in the post but I don't always feel responsible for it, nor does it seem to emulate real post play really well in many cases. I often shy away from the post game for this reason. The odds seem stacked against me - if I find myself backing a guy down who's not falling over himself on one of my fakes, my possession feels wasted.

Post game is definately not harder theses days than it used to in like 2K11. I think it was even a little more complicated back then, I know that not a lot of people knew about the most advanced post moves, and the post game was super good in 2K11. I remember it was my favourite part of the game (equal with using Kobe ). I would take Boozer or KG and just dominate the low post.

I feel the same about the post game feeling like a crap shoot theses days. I like the moves and how it can look and feel really good, the results though just aren't as satisfiying as they used to.

So I wen back and collected and played a few games with the Grizzles. To show you a few Jabs and things you posted up there.

Watch Gasol reverse pivot into blow by
https://youtu.be/TAd8-75mSeo?t=38m6s

Totally different game

Jab step fail
It failed because I didn’t go with it. And let the defense get back into the play.
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=10m18s

Fade away fake into up and under layup
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=11m41s

Watch how I set him now. That I have the jab step set up.
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=12m14s

Replay
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=34m15s

Now watch as I use the pivot to face up and blow right by him.
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=30m35s

replay
https://youtu.be/0m4UolQH35U?t=37m14s

And this is an video from earlier in the season.

I don't think we could have it as fast as we see in real life like the videos you posted. I think the reason post moves are slow is because most won't be able to react to moves that close to the basket. And I'm talking about the defensive side of the ball. That's why the most used move in the post in the spin move baseline. Most aren't ready for it.

I think all the moves have skill involved.

Because up and under your reacting to the defense. That's a skill in my opinion. Your watching the defense. And then doing moves to counter his movement.

A lot people didn't learn about the L2 post up jabs and spin moves. These are huge in my opinion.
