Easiest way to make Park playable for 12 months

Have tournaments and give out crazy rewards.

Let’s say once a week there is a 40 team park tourney and whoever wins gets an 85 overall player of their choosing?

You telling me you wouldn’t be in park for that?

Let’s say every 100 wins you get a boost that last 10 games and every 1000 wins all your badges go up a level for 100 games.

Adding in fan satisfaction to the park would help make it playable all year.

I honestly don’t know why 2k hasn’t thought about giving away MyPlayers as a reward yet

They are too worried about putting players in MyTeam packs you have to pay for. What so hard about a pro am tourney where the winner is awarded say a Kevin Durant build for park or something? Would that ruin the game? No obviously not

        In 2k it’s different.
Trusting to good fortune (cuz at release they simply dont give all the info) you build a character on release.
Now, if you want to compete right away, you better pump money into it.
Then you better start grinding like a asocial Hermite to grind Some badges.
So it takes you hours and hours to be at a level where your character is well rounded enough to have a fightingchance with silver badges.

After a few weeks, the game has to balance out the die(try)hards with insane stacking badges, regulars with either good badges and low overals or Vice versa, and casuals

And y’all are wondering why they cant balance things out?

Disconnect myplayer from online play, have people play park/pro am where they can choose from 10-15 premade builds for each position with maxed out silver badges.
Have a screen where people can pick the lineup so lineups are atleast somewhat balanced.

You will quickly see a skill gap developing.

These game modes get a matchmaking queue and a picking phase where players compose lineups.
15-20 pre-made builds PER POSITION, with max silver badges.
You’d get vc for games that can be used in any game mode, a full blown ranking system that gets cosmetic perks (a shiny rank badge like current overall badges, nicer parks to play in, bigger crowds...) and the only progress to make is also cosmetic: clothes, shoes, accessoiries etc Skins, if you please.

Buy the game and compete online, out of the box. Plug and play.

Its the only way they will ever be remotely succesful as an esports.
You’ll never create a succesful competitive scene if players have to pump in money and spend weeks of grinding just to start competing. Facts.

And you cant properly balance online games either the current way.

Park incentives would be interesting but idk about your ideas. Maybe if they brought back leader boards and rep. But honestly, they really need to shape up the game play in this mode. No one wants to play against dribble spammers and people that can hit bank shots from half court.

Turn 15 and 16 back on, and forget the last 2 years happened.

Re: Easiest way to make Park playable for 12 months

I've never been a big fan of the disconnect park/pro-am from off-line idea. Customization in my games is big to me, and I want to be able build my character how I like and compete against other people's created characters. It's just inherently more fun to me. But reading the post above made me understand the merits of separation a little more, so i'll suggest two possible compromises (neither is that ground breaking or new).

Idea 1 Separate parks. One where you can play with your custom characters, one with default builds. Wouldn't be far from what they've done in the past with the different hometowns. Go to hometown 1 to bring in your customer character, go to hometown 2 to play with pre-mades. Make the park with pre-mades the "ranked' park if you want.

Idea 2 "Normalize" custom characters. This is what they do in Pokemon. Under normal rules, in an on-line Pokemon battle all of the Pokemon are set to level 50. The pokemon keep their unique characteristics (moves, abilities, held items, etc...), but their stats are adjusted down to what they would be at level 50. This could work for 2K. I'd set that level at 85. Players keep their custom builds, jumpshots, dribble moves, clothes, etc...but everyone's stats (and badges if you please) are level.

Just give us the same venues that the other game has....

Other ideas, and I'm stealing from other games.

                  1) Daily login bonus...attribute points, VC, boosters, etc.
                  2) Free to play weekends for people who don't have XBL or PSN. Bring on those weekend warriors!
                  3) Bonuses for long win streaks in Park and Pro-Am.
                  4) Leaderboards
                  5) Featured live streaming to YouTube/Mixer/Twitch for teams currently on xxx winning streak. Kinda a spectator mode.
                  6) Increase the number of courts at the playground.
                  7) Have separate courts on based on ratings while maintaining courts where any ratings can play together.

Bring back Rival Weekend's. Loved those. Felt like the park was so much more packed.

Matchmaking somehow, but also still keep got next for people who love waiting 20 minutes.

Space out the courts a little more and make the park bigger.

Like ksuttonjr76 said, daily login bonuses. Preferably VC points.

Again like ksuttonjr76 said, give us real parks to play in. Would be truly insane to play on real parks with your my player.

Daily/weekly challenges too. You risk VC in order to gain more VC, a boost in points on a selected badge or new shoes or gear.

                        Day/Night parks.

                        Weather effects.

                        Atmosphere outside the parks.

Practice court inside the parks. Allow people to shoot around, dunk, practice dribbling until you're ready to play or you're waiting on a friend.

Add mini games to the park. 3pt contest, dunk contest, skills challenge, horse.

                        Daily/Weekly/Monthly/All-time leader boards for stats.

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed but the Neighborhood layout probably returns next year in 2k19 (Unfortunately). I hope 2k goes back to the old format eventually though.

3 Affiliations and 3 NEWLY designed parks (I'm fine with Sunset, Rivet, and Old Town returning).

Bring back rival day weekend like it used to be in 2k15 and 2k16 NOT 2k17. Give the community a reason to grind in park. In 15 and 16 the community competed for a New Park which kept the game alive for a good amount of time. Add that back in the mix with other good incentives. Just make sure its not rigged! Old Town had no business winning in 2k15 and it's no way Rivet outdid Sunset in 2k16.

                          More double XP weekends..

Lastly don't release Patches that kill the game. Patch 4 ruined 2k15. Patch 6 ruined 2k16. Let's not keep repeating this 2k.

Just a few quick ideas that would spice things up again.

2K will never separate the user base by making an offline/online mycareer - because it separates the user base. You need fans in the seats, you need parks to be full, you need offliners with the potential to go online just if they get the inkling to do so, etc.

Like you said, esports is the thing that suffers the most, 'cause you want to just get on there and start competing, not grind a badge for 1000 hrs. The best solution is to make grinding easier. Which is exactly what 2K probably won't do 'cause they're greedy af. 2K19 is the year we see if they if this greedy trend continues (hey maybe 10,000 VC for a haircut?), or if they come back to their senses.
