I think that because of "Analytics" people at all levels (players, coaches, trainers, GMs, scouts, etc) have a better understanding of what makes an effective basketball player.

Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell, and Jayson Tatum already trying to make a case to become NBA All Stars in their sophomore seasons.
I don't think that's much different from your average class though.
Mitchell still slipped through the cracks and was drafted immediately behind Malik Monk and Luke Kennard.

I think there was one defining draft that really set the wheels in motion.

2015
Stars: Towns (1st), Porzingis (4th), Turner (11th), Booker (13th)
Medium: Russell (2nd), Cauley-Stein (6th), Kaminsky (9th), Winslow (10th), Lyles (12th)
Busts: Okafor (3rd), Hezonja (5th), Mudiay (7th), S.Johnson (8th)

I think that in the last three years this draft helped us establish:
Porzingis players: REALLY GOOD
Okafor players: REALLY BAD

Do you feel like this paradigm shift is one of the reasons why 2K can't keep bringing rookies in at an artificial low to mid 70s rating anymore off rip?
I have found throughout the years that 2K underrates the vast majority of NBA players - rookies are no exception. Conversely, stars are typically overrated Gods due to casual appeal.

Anytime there is a team with a bench mob (like Utah) they will rate criminally low. This isn't a recent development. I've been covering this for a staggering 15 years now. It will always be the case until someone like me with a hard commitment to detail ends up in charge. Even then, that person would still need the backing to get it cleared through the numerous bureaucrats within the company who would favor a status quo. (Why take the Ri$k?)

Rashidi, looking at the players you've rated the one I've noticed is missing is LaMarcus Aldridge, im assuming you have ratings for him?

His render nor his rating has been posted by 2K. Pretty sure he'll be around an 87 - 89 rating.
