Player Archetypes (Strengths vs. Weaknesses

So I’ve been struggling with deciding on archetypes. I would say I’m a pass-first, dribbling player who likes to drive. Recently I’ve noticed with Park, that those qualities aren’t really valued. 2k18 I chose slashing as a secondary to playmaking and there was a dunking tendency issue all year (Driving dunk-25 instead of 44). I found that my build became pretty useless unless I wanted to drive and dish every play. So, that being said, is it more valuable to choose archetypes based on your strengths or based on fun? I play 2k all year and for the first year ever I felt as though my player hit a wall. It’s entirely possible I’ll choose a shot-creating slasher or sharp slasher. Thoughts?

Assuming stats are the same then only slasher first archetypes will get contacts. And there's 2 tiers of contacts as well. So even if you put slasher first, unless those archetypes mix you won't get contacts.

Again assuming caps are the same this year.

make what you have the most fun with

for a guard you can never go wrong with a build with a 3 pointer as primary

for a center you can never go wrong with rebounding as primary

in my opinion ^

Play with people who match up with your archetype

I play with randoms a lot and it kills me a lot

If you are a pas first driver you MUST play with a sharp

No way around it.

You have to make it EASY for your teammates

My advice go for fun first . That’s why we play .

Make your build . Not what people want you too.

Unfortunately, the way 2K works the best way is usually to think of the style you want, then look at the badges and prioritize which ones needs to be higher level to make the build work. In your case, it sounds like you should have gone slashing primary and playmaking secondary.
