What can THIS defender do? (H2H matchup)

He's out of position and in BEAT position with a finisher point-blank at the basket. Obviously Adams is good defensive player and a block attempt is always a choice but IMO due to the fact he's in bad position combined Embiid's Draw Foul rating there's a really high chance for a foul even with good timing.

I've always thought R2 + R-stick towards the offensive player should be the Shot Contest--its much more intuitive than pushing the stick UP and it allows for contests from any angle....even from behind. Which should be a less risky option here to try and affect the shot a little.

Here's what happened:



Bad Position and Bad Timing can't = block . Gameplay has to do better and its success has to based on timing/skillset so that defense isn't exploitative...because that defeats the whole purpose.

yet you can jump through a 3pnt shooter and he still nails it lol

The problem is that 2K doesn't really handle contact, momentum, etc. at all. Until they completely revamp their underlying systems, we're never going to see realistic contact or movement. It's the same reason we see so much warping and sliding; the game doesn't account for weight, momentum, balance, etc.

I generally agree, but the defensive AI will occasionally and randomly crash into the shooter when you're just asking for a hands up contest. I'll have to fish through my streams and find an example, but it happens far more often than it should on contests where you're in the guy's grill and just go to put hands up.

For sure, I know exactly what you're talking about. IMO hands up vs outside shots should be fouls in like 1% of instances--we're making an effort to play the game the right way after all.

Using triangle to bother jump shots had a long run but its time to phase it out. We need better more consistent mechanics to properly display the interaction between shooters and defenders--including and especially the ability to attack close-outs, draw fouls and bother shooters the right way.
