    Illegal Screens

I've been slacking for a while and decided to play a game last night. Offline myleague, playoff mode. I like how the game mode was improved as I'm able to decide which teams playing against who.

I was frustrated at how frequent I was called on the offensive illegal screens. On replay, I saw that I started my dribble moves even before the screen is set. So the next possession I waited for my screener set his feet before I triggered the dribble moves. Then on some occassions I noticed my screener shuffled his feet. The one I went nuts was when I called for double screen play at the top of the key. I was standing there waiting, and the 2 screeners did not set their feet at the time. The cpu onball defender reacted by shading away from the screener who had set his feet and bumped into the moving screener who had yet to set his feet. The last one that messed up my hair - offball screen foul where I had no control of. Omg!

All the above ended up with the offensive foul called. Is there anyway to tone down the illegal screens? What other tips to use the pnr more effectively?

If I rem correctly the nba called it very frequently at the start of season. I felt that it was toned down as the season went by. I still see a fair bit of illegal screens not called for.

    Re: Illegal Screens

The frequent illegal screen calls was a great idea on paper for 2k, considering the amount of high PnR cheese, but it was implemented horribly.

Calling for a manual screen and dribbling before the pick is set is almost a guaranteed non-call, and waiting for an actual legal screen to form will get called illegal most of the time.

I haven't had a problem with screens being called illegal regarding off-ball freelance actions though. While the off-ball screens that allow shooters to get free are very poor screens, they still don't get called for being illegal.

It doesn't matter if you wait for the screener to be set, in fact it's probably better to not let the screener be set. The illegal screen call is triggered by the "black hole" animation that sucks the defender into the screen. As ridiculous as it sounds, it's better to not let that animation trigger and just run the defender into the moving screener. It's ridiculous.

It happens way more running freelance than doing manual screens.

Lol the “black hole” animation is real. I have so many vids of my guys going to set screens and then the defender 2-3 feet away sliding into it as soon as my guy goes to use the screen leading to a violation. Meanwhile the cpu ignores all the rules and walks around holding a screen til you run into it, riding you out of the play when you make contact with the screen or sliding into you if you avoid it to make sure it hits you.
