Takes about 40hrs to get to 95 according to Mike Wang

Thanks for the information on this.

Idk if I’m a fan of 40hrs to hit 95. It’s a huge plus for people that have a job, family or other priorities but it’s going to create an even larger gap. I knew a lot of people who couldn’t get games last year as a 75. If 80% of the community is a 95 after the first month, then you’ll have to be a at least a 90 to get a game online. If it takes 40 to hit to 95 it’ll likely only take 15 - 20 to hit 90 overall. However it’s going to take about 10x the amount of time to accumulate the 300K VC you need to reach 90.

It all sounds good, but to me it looks like a money grab that’ll just make the 2K community and online experience even worse. I would imagine 90% of the community are teenagers and college students who will run through 40 hours during the opening weekend and don’t mind paying $200 for their 95.

It's incentivizing what everyone wants to do, which is create a ****ton of builds and try them out. Which is in turn incentivizing the initial 190k drop of VC to get to the point where you can then relatively easily grind to 95. Honestly though, getting 200k VC isn't a world beating task for those who don't want to spend money (me). If I don't spend a drop on MyTeam, I can probably accrue enough VC every month or so to try a new build out, and then by August next year I'll be able to have 7-10 builds all in the mid 90s, which sounds good to me.

I guess then my question would be, does it start off like that from a low overall rating? Or is it VC > mypoints at some overall rating? Orrr is our starting rating going to be higher than before? Are we just assuming it's gonna take 190k vc or whatever to get up to the point at which mypoints come in, or did they confirm?
Nah same as before sadly

Here's the upgrade screen
Start out at 60ovr and you can max out at 85ovr from the jump with about 180k VC same as before

Ok the new system is dope

BUT

as an offline player, I'm disappointed that we're still limited in the sense that our 99 (or 95) myplayer will not be a real 99 or 95 myplayer compared to real NBA player

I guess this is the next step they'll need to adress...

Yep, I figured, thanks for confirming though.

I'm happy with the shortened grind to 95 and the ability to put your points in the order you choose though, will just have to earn all that VC for my alternate builds over the course of the year.

As a fellow dedicated big, I have to say... I'm struggling. My PG and SG buddies just didn't put anything into any of the post stuff and were able to max out nearly everything else, which resulted in being great at what they need to do and good enough at the other stuff. My PF just... kind of sucks.

I will say, going up against Draymond Green every time doesn't help figure out what my PF can do.

Making a big for a three man park squad. I ONLY play Park. We will likely have a sharp at PG (who will get a lot of points in playmaking) and either a pure lockdown or a lockdown/shooter at SG.

So for me at the SF/"big" spot... I had an athletic finisher in 2019, but wanted a touch of shooting this year... but man, to get that shooting you lose a TON of defense and rebounding. So thoughts for Park... do I go with this guy

Finishing/RebounderDefender

Or this guy...

Finishing/shooter.

Both are 6'10.

I love the 75 midrange to space the floor, but the rebounding and defense is just... bad. 77 interior d max, 69 offensive board max, 76 defensive board max? That's... bad

Thanks for your thoughts!
Anyone got thoughts? Could use some input!

Figured that could be possibility. We're pretty much banking on badges for us to feel like superstars.
I still plan on committing to a MyCareer as a offline player. But I will do a Player Lock ML as well later in year.
