Does anyone have any legitimate tips for getting a good face scan?

My dude looks NOTHING like me lol. This was a problem last year.

My place has great lighting and the NBA Live Companion App scan looked identical to me.

Any tips for scanning we should be aware of?

The 2k face scanning app is trash. Has never worked for me, I don’t even bother anymore

I've got a Pixel 3, I'd say it's the best camera on the market, arguably... And in perfect lighting I can't get a scan to even load.

On top of that, 90% of the time it loads the camera in landscape mode, essentially, face looks normal in landscape mode, looks like a cone head in portrait, which it gets the photos from portrait. On rare occasion I get it to work right but then when it asks for a second scan it goes back to cone head mode.

I don't even know what to do, this has happened in previous 2k apps, it's so frustrating

Yea, I'm not even getting the scan to finish in the app. Last year i was able to get a decent one on my iPhone 8plus. It seems like the face scan gets worse every year...

I get it to work just fine in the app but then it doesn't upload in the demo. It worked fine last year. Oh well, probably won't use it

I gave it a go. Tried three times and received three errors after the demo went through 100 percent of uploading.

I know no other job where you can be bad at it year in year out and some even argue worse at it year over year yet keep it. Whoever is doing the face scan app for 2k is laughing.

when i first entered 2k20 demo i created some random face...now i have scaned my face and when i create new players i don't have an option do use my scan face....wtf did i do wrong???? or can we not edit faces again in 2k20 demo???

I haven't tried this year, but last year I had success using natural lighting during a sunny day. I think any even lighting will work, but unless you are a photographer or a gaffer, you probably won't find anywhere better. I'd also do it at about noon. The goat sacrifice is optional.


The facescan that I got last year is so spot on, it's almost in uncanny valley. I don't like to look at it.
