I think play should dictate minutes, starting position VS. Some arbitrary algorithm that decides after so many games then I'm able to start.
If im averaging 20ppg off the bench, why am i not starting?

I'm sorry... But this is something that has stuck around since the inception of MyCareer. If i drop 30 my first game in the NBA, regardless of draft position or who's in front off me, more than likely I'm starting the next game. On top of that, i know i haven't earned a lot of minutes, but if I'm the leading scorer in the game I'm not going to go to the bench for a minutes restriction. Coach will probably ride me until i stop doing what i was doing.

Not really.
At best you get more minutes after 1 game and if you keep on going then you will get the starting job.
Coaches usually need to see more before jumping to conclusions

Maybe your coach wants more fire power off the bench. Lou Williams 2.0Comment

I've put up 50 off the bench before and not started the next game. Y'all crazy. Lol
Even if im undrafted, if im putting up 20 ppg and 10 rebounds in not coming off the bench for the Knicks. Come on now.Comment

If you want the "RP" reason, I guess they want to see if you are consistent against most of the league and didn't just have a couple lucky games against easy matchups.Comment

Re: If im averaging 20ppg off the bench, why am i not starting?
I think 2k needs to value bench scoring more. They always put the best overall player in the starting lineup and that messes up team chemistry.
Just look at what always happens to the Clippers. Louis Williams and Montrez Harrell always end up in the starting lineup and it makes the team 2x worse. They would always put guys like Jason Terry, Manu Ginobli, and Lamar Odom in the starting lineup too.
Team balance should be valued more than scoring. 50 points off the bench in combination with a solid starting lineup is incredibly valuable.
If I could control lineups from the start, I would make an actual 6th man build for a change. It would be a nice change of pace.Comment

Re: If im averaging 20ppg off the bench, why am i not starting?
I do think for some 2Ks going forward we should have the ability to start right away. If Im the highest rated player at that position and I was a first round draft pick then I should be starting. There have been past 2Ks where our players were Top 5 Picks. I should not be coming off the bench on the NY Knicks or Phoenix Suns.
At least they removed freethrows as a badge. That was the dumbest idea. Here we are this overhyped myplayer thats dominating college/the G League or whatever scenario it is and Im shooting like SHAQ from the freethrow line because I dont have freethrow ace....It was even more annoying if I was a pure sharp that spend money on VC to get a 95 three and 90+ midrange but cant make freethrows. Hopefully 2k continues to progress the mycareer story in future games so we dont always have to come off the benchComment
