What?

You need to lay off the turbo

Even the CPU controlled players are absorbed into some funky contact animations (mostly charges).

Sometimes a player could be moving left-right, but is pulled into a defender who's facing north-south.

  • Unrelated, but this game definitely doesn't look 'next-gen' in motion. It's like a heavily modded PC version of the base game.
    • The lighting in the game appears somewhat dated. I'm not asking for ray tracing or anything, but the crowd looks flat. As if they are completely opaque, with no shadows or light reflecting off of them. It's jarring to some degree.
      • It's not just the crowd, but essentially anyone who isn't a player. The dancers, coaches, etc.
      • This continues within the menus, the city, or anything that's 3D with baked in lighting. Overall, the light maps look as if they're straight from the Dreamcast days.
    • Are we still asking for animations to be mapped to an actual physics engine?
      • Players will still clip through physical objects
      • Jerseys still animate as if it's 2K14. The top half of the jersey is completely static. Lebron likes to wipe sweat on his compression tank, which is virtually impossible atm
  • The PS5 integration with activities needs work.
    • Selecting MyTeam or any online related mode from a cold start leads to a loading screen which may or may not resolve.
    • Inviting players to a quick match is far too cumbersome.
    • The box score / stats integration is not functional atm

Overall, I'm not seeing a game that's worth $70, although I paid it.

Totally agree when you say:
this game definitely doesn't look 'next-gen' in motion

In photo or static could be, if you focus on NBA players

I use turbo entirely to much. So if you got 10 that would be about right.

NBA 2K21 - Next-Gen Impressions

I’m not blown away by the graphics like I thought I would be, but gameplay is definitely better. Can’t really enjoy it until they fix the P&R defense, but it’s super smooth. I’ll have much more to say once the full game installs.

Re: NBA 2K21 - Next-Gen Impressions

I'm really enjoying the game but I can't seem to find a good camera angle in Triple Threat Online. I like broadcast style but for some reason, Triple Threat Offline's same camera angle of Broadcast Low is much more viewable than online's. In online it's too close no matter how much I zoom out or adjust the height and I can't see my players most of the time since they're off screen when the ball is brought up the floor and their usually out of position. Anyone use a side/broadcast angle that doesn't have this problem?
