Im no expert but I might have been one of the few people who actually liked MyGM last gen. lol
If anyone wants to add to this that would be great.
This guide is based on unranked as it allows for the cool RPG elements but gives flexibility.
The simplist way to describe the mode. You get a certain amount of action points a day. Every decision you make costs 1 action point so the mode is about managing your time and prioritizing decisions.
Lets start with some basic settings:
- I turn off games use an action point. I like the action points to be used for GM stuff. Also if you screw up and use your action points, you dont have to sim the game to advance. I like to play every game.
- Turn off automatically go to next day when all action points are used. This ties into the first setting. If you leave this on it's easy to screw up and sim games by accident. Also this allows you to do GM activities and play game in any order without the risk of accidentally advancing a day.
- Extra action points. This is user preference. I personally have settled on 1 extra point a day as it gives me just enough to feel like I'm getting something accomplished but also not negating the purpose of the limited points and the importance of managing my time.
Heres a tip on action points. If you dont like the fact you cant call plays or substitutions right off the bat, max the points you get. You can get your relationship with your coach to the required level in a couple days this way. Once you've gotten a high enough relationship turn the extra action point setting back down.
How the RPG elements work:
Every staff member has some benefit tied to their relationship. To see what the benefits are you can go into the "relationship" tab and scroll through each staff member.
You can also see what your current relationship status is by going into the "staff" setting.
A good relationship is 70-79%
A great relationship is 80-89%
An excellent relationship is 90-99%.
As an example you need an excellent relationship with your head coach to achieve substitutions or play calling. So you would need 90-99%.
First thing you are going to want to do is go to the Skills tree and pick "chit chat with staff" as your very first skill.
Once you've done that you can go into the "staff" setting and select "chit chat" with any staff member. You dont have to wait for those options to come up on your overview list on the main page. I highly recommend getting the relationship with the head coach at excellent as priority number 1. Having an excellent relationship with the head coach allows editing gameplan, substitutions and calling plays. REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO MAINTAIN AN EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR HEAD COACH OR THE ABILITY GOES AWAY.
Having an excellent relationship with the trainer opens up the mentorship program. etc etc etc I wont go into all the relationships as you can see in game.
Another skill that is important to get early from the skills tree is "chit chat with players" Being able to chit chat with players helps increase trust so you will have an easier time resigning them. It also effects morale which in turn effects team chemistry. You will probably get goals of increasing team chemistry. Winning games has a big affect on that but you can also increase by chit chatting players.
"chit chat with Governor" is another important skill to get early from the skill tree. Having an excellent relationship with the owner opens up relocation settings but more importantly keeps you from getting fired.
I will also add " chit chat with other GMs." I like this skill as it helps with trades if you have a good repoire with the other GM.
I wont touch on all the skills from the skill tree but another important one is the special facility skill. A very common goal is to increase attendance. If you pick the choose facility skill you can upgrade the amenities which will increase attendance. Winning is still the biggest factor though. Each facility has different positives but you can see a description in game when choosing.
Another common goal is to increase prices. The ability to do that is also a skill you can purchase.
Anyways this is getting long so I will leave it at that for now as this should get you started.
