Struggling to assign Griffin to the Nets

I am running a PS4 League owning all 31 teams and trying to follow real NBA roster move.

Trade logic is disabled but I am struggling assigning Blake Griffin to the Nets. He is currently free agent after being waived by Detroit but no team has enough salary space to sign him (asking 40 millions).

I have tried to edit players contracts to make space but it is not working.

Any tips to force assignment to the Nets?

Change the top 2 contract sliders to 100. This will allow BG to ask for less money.
Also make sure he's cleared waivers, so that there's even an option to negotiate rather than the greyed out amount you see when trying to claim him

Thanks for your suggestion. I have tried to change the silders but no effect so far.

How can I make sure he's cleared waivers, any specific action to perform? I am currently not able to negociate the amount.

If Blake is a free agent then edit his primary position down to point guard and sign him for cheap. Edit his position back to power forward once he's on the team.

use the import/Export Player DNA Feature to just copy him over a signed scrub?

use the 2k roster Tool by looyh if you are on PC?

If you can't negotiate (change the amount offer) it means he hasn't cleared waivers. You would simply just have to let a few days on the calendar pass. IRL it's 2 days, in the past 2k had it as more but I haven't tested 2k21 yet.

This is why as crazy as it may be I just turn the salary cap/hard cap off while using the 2 sliders (min/max) and put them both at 100. I’m in my 3rd season and so far the only deals I’ve had to go back and change is certain players that would sign back with teams that I know irl they either didn’t want to play there/got traded so I’d put them in a team that needed them most. I’ve been going this route since last gen my league to avoid issues like this. I only control one team. I also put the cpu resigning aggressiveness slider to 100 as well bc that helps maintain a lot of teams and a lot of wild deals won’t happen being that I have the salary cap off so maybe in the future if you decide to start over try this out and see how it works bc so far it’s worked for me and I haven’t gotten any stacked teams despite the salary cap/hard cap being off. And as far as contracts go there will be some deals for a lot of money but not a lot bc of how the sliders I mentioned are adjusted.

- Edit the Nets players contracts
- Sign the worst player in the free agent pool to a minimum contract
- After you sign them you will have an updated salary cap(more money)
- Release the worst player you just sign
- Sign Blake Griffin
