Seeking accurate prime Grant Hill speed/accel attributes

2K only has an all time Pistons and Magic version of him. I think most all time attributes are BS.

The all time Pistons version has a 94/94 speed/accel and 91 speed with ball rating. I never knew Hill to be THAT fast. Maybe I’m wrong? Anyone have a decent idea of where those ratings should be?

Same goes for D Wade. There’s only an all time version of him so not sure how accurate the attributes are. He’s pretty much MAXED out in all speed attributes and speed related badges. But at least with him I know he actually was insanely fast in his prime.

Re: Seeking accurate prime Grant Hill speed/accel attributes

Extreme Pistons bias forthcoming but...

Grant Hill's first step was elite.

In the open floor with a live dribble, he was quite fast as well, but I wouldn't put him in the "Devin Harris Guinness Book of World Records" category or anything. But I mean, his speed at his size, particularly that aforementioned first step (I'm guessing that'd be his acceleration rating) is kind of what made him so supremely dangerous to begin with.

It's kind of tricky with Grant because he was so smooth that everything just looked easy. When I watch a guy like Russell Westbrook, I feel like I'm watching a dude going balls to the wall at every given moment. With Grant, it was more like, "Oh, it looked like he just walked right around that defender for that 3-point play". But dude was just quick on his feet, especially that first step.

Edit: Remember that "slip by" animation that always triggered on dribble drives in 2K18? That's what it felt like watching Grant Hill play. I don't know how that should get reflected in ratings, but I wonder if that's what the speed and acceleration numbers are for.

I always think about this clip when thinking of Grant's first step

PERFECTLY put. He’s so smooth I always assumed he’s not too fast! I prefer that much to Westbrook’s more strenuous speed style. Hill looks more like a Bugatti coasting to 200 at the snap of a finger.

Wow. Crossing Scottie like that alone probably earned him the 95 accel rating.

Re: Seeking accurate prime Grant Hill speed/accel attributes

Haha luv this thread, like a G. Hill fan base stuff. The usual elite ball handling rating in 2K has been 86 (not sure abt 2K21) and that can trigger a series moves with nice animations to blow by defenders. Anything lower u can see the dribbles in real time speed Lol

Suggest u give a high Acceleration and average Speed without ball eg. If average is 79 for your SFs across the league then add a +5 for Acceleration +2 for Speed. Speed with Ball compliments with good ball handling skills so u decide u want to give 86 or + 2 up.

Attributes are relative and dun forget u still have global sliders that affect the player movement on the court.
