MyNBA - must do's, house rules etc.

Hey there, about to start my first MyNBA in 2k22. Is there a comprehensive list of must do's, house rules etc. that need to be done to have an enjoyable experience?

One important thing I know is selecting all 30 teams to make sure they don’t mess up their roster etc.

    Anything else?

Stuff I do, you can take what you can out of it for your own experience:

    * Put on trade approval and watch for anything funky, or out of your realm of realism

    * Keep watch on the transaction list, make sure teams aren’t making crazy signings.

    * Spread out the ratings: use the global editor and try making a disparity between the bad players and the good players. Maybe give a generous boost to players you want to see have a break out year. i.e. Gordon Hayward 90 overall break out season. Zion Williamson 75 overall, he falls off his potential.

Create your own storyline and have fun. If you like using the Bucks, make it interesting. Put Giannis out for the year with an achilles tear, and try playing that way. Maybe LeBron gets disappointed with the Lakers and demands a trade back to a promising young Cleveland team to finish his career.

    Endless possibilities of fun.

I created a very detailed and balanced all time roster where a thought out selection of both the best of today and yesterday, as well as key non-stars hoop fans either remember from yesterday or know from today, play together. Since I’m OCD of course I need an explanation for how it’s possible for them to play together and said explanation is that secret DNA tech was uncovered which can make anyone revert to any age they choose, the formula for said “tech” bought exclusively by the NBA, so they can finally settle and market the “how would players from different eras compete and who’s really GOATED” topic which is especially hot and debated in the basketball world. lol. It’s the funnest basketball universe I could imagine.

Lol that's wild, I don't do that for 2K but for my Show dynasty that's how I make sense of Legends playing now, basically clone technology lol
Games I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.

          LMAOOO exactly.

It actually makes MyNBA way better. I don’t have to worry about the flawed CPU logic. Drafts don’t really matter much since my league is timeless and stacked, I put so much time into rosters I prefer no trades at least for a couple seasons or so. 30 team control so I can adjust each teams minutes and not have 5 good players with 0 minutes allotted, let CPU handle everything for all the other teams but my Bulls, yet with trade approval on.

No salary cap limit since every team is obviously way over cap.

Extended every players peak years so as little adjustments to their ratings happens.

It actually plays to the strength of the game. My main agenda is just maintaining the original rosters and attributes I have set for players and teams.

I play every game as the Bulls but will choose to play some games for fun with other favorite teams I’ve curated. Such as the Lakers with prime Kobe/Magic/Worthy/AD, and then classics like Elden Campbell, Rick Fox, Fisher, etc. Or Shaq/Penny Magic which I threw TMac on and also have some of their current roster within. I also have a created Barkley so I play as an all time 93/today Suns with him, KJ, Booker, Chambers, Ceballos, Ayto , etc.

Last night I played my first game with the Nets which I have with KD, Harden, Kidd, Petrovic, Van Horn, and then some current players like Patty Mills, Aldridge etc. Had an amazing game against the Sixers I have set with AI, Julius Irving, Embiid, etc.

It’s crazy fun as long as the game itself plays right.

That's funny. One thing I've always thought about doing for fictional draft classes (once you're far enough into your MyLeague that real draft classes are no longer practical) is making a handful of players as fictional sons of former NBA players (using their father's cyberface). Sometimes they could be like pops reincarnate, or other times maybe an amusing contrast, like speedy point guard Rahim Olajuwan. Partially I just think this would keep it interesting, so that it's not a bunch of total randos in the future, and also it's a good way to recycle existing cyberfaces, to cut down on too many CAPs (though at least on PC there are ways to generate fictional cyberfaces).

I've actually not gotten far enough into the future with a 2K to put this into action (usually I only make it 2-3 years in), but I think I might get there with 2k22.

Re: MyNBA - must do's, house rules etc.

I found a roster of all fictional players and started a league. The background for mine is all of the NBA players are not playing anymore (The Snap from the MCU hit the league hard is the current story). The league has decided to continue playing with replacement players. The rules of the game are mostly the same, except around trades. There are no restrictions. No trade deadline. You don't have to match salaries. You can trade you next 3 first rounders if you want. Recently, medical research has reduced injuries in the league so that there are no career enders and very few injuries overall. The breakthroughs have also allowed players to develop quicker and decline slower, though the impact of this has not been seen as this has only been in place for a few seasons.

I take over the Bulls and work to build a winner. I don't make modifications to trades. If I like the offer, I can take it. Also, I don't take on undrafted players. They seem to develop in a different way that drafted players, so I stay away from them. I tend to play only televised games along with the playoffs.

Overall, this has been a great way for me to play. I don't have to worry about the expectation that certain players should play certain ways. I get to learn about my guys and who does what well. Right now, I have a 2nd year SG that is tearing up the league and a supporting group that are playing well. We're a couple of games below .500, but the games are enjoyable.

MyNBA - must do's, house rules etc.

Obviously these don’t “need” to be done, but couple fun things I’ve done this year - Wanted to have a little bit less freedom of movement and always personally thought the players looked a bit small on the court so I added 3 inches to every player using global editor and also added rim protector and intimidator Hall of Fame to the entire league.

Makes me run plays and think about my offense a bit more, rather than just freelancing everywhere.

That's an interesting take brother, I remember a few 2K's ago everyone seemed too tall so I shrunk everyone's height about 3 inches and the Court seemed to have so much floor!

I'll give your height increase a try because I love the thought process of that this year

I work for a college basketball team and sitting courtside so close to the action I’m always amazed how much little room these guys actually work with compared to what looks like so much space on TV. I just remember seeing Tacko Fall live at UCF in college and seeing how they schemed their entire defense around him taking up the entire paint. It was just eye opening to see how much size is a factor.

I use A LOT of house rules.

I personally Player-Lock, because then I'm reliant on my teammates like I was them and they were me when I played. It makes you want to get everyone involved.

Especially when you don't have to drop 40 every night, honestly some of my most favorite games, are when I go 3-15 from the field, and Dwyane Wade or Kevin Durant, or whoever drop 35 points and we lose by 5. LOL I always feel like they came through for me and I let them down

A change I always make, are increasing globally everyone's draw foul to 100, everyone's foul tendency to 100. This goes a long way to increasing FTA's and getting those EVER elusive jumpshot fouls (you can also decrease the Foul Tendency slider down for Superstars so they don't get into foul trouble as much as others)

ALSO, EVERYONE 6'10 or taller.... I increase their DUNK & STANDING DUNK TENDENCY and ATTRIBUTE to 100.

It's not nearly as dominant as you think it is (especially when the PF or C is your CPU teammate or opposing team). But it does allow for the big man to get the dunk he would get when in good position.

I typically have to increase shot tendency and touches by my CPU teammates up across the board... as well as since I player lock - I DECREASE my TOUCHES down to 25. I want my teammates to run all the plays they would as if I wasn't there to shoulder the load and I only attack when I feel necessary. Makes me pick and choose my spots, feel out the game, and lets my players get their shots up too.

I use the global editor and make some changes. I try to have players come out of no where. I got this idea from MyTeam a few years back, we always see the moments cards etc so I implemented this concept into my franchise modes.

But my league is totally different, as I start in the off season and do my own signings etc— like Melo is back with the Knicks instead of the Lakers. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan went to the Hornets (lob city with LaMelo)— Blake got a rating boost too, 81 overall. Terry Rozier is playing like prime Gilbert Arenas. Hayward back to his old self on the Jazz.

In mynba, the Hornets (cpu team) are kinda like how the in real life Bulls are this year. A team on the highrise.
