How do I trigger the spin jumper animation?

I notice they gave MJ his own signature spin jumper animation. How do you trigger it? It isn’t in the tutorial and when I spin the joystick in a 360 it doesn’t do the stutter he does when viewing the animation in the signature’s menu.

Unsure how it differs from post fade as well.

Ok figured it out. Double tap the shoot button.

Is there a way to easily do it using the joystick? I try to stay away from the shoot button.

It also appears you can use the spin jumper animation from the post position if you double tap shoot too, unless I’m mistaken. Which in MJ’s case means you get a patented animation to him since his post fade is a more generic one but his spin jumper is his own specific one.

That’s where I learned it’s double tap X. But I haven’t seen a video explain if it’s possible with the joystick. I’m assuming it’s not. One guy said you can spin the joystick 360 and then shoot, but it doesn’t trigger the specific “spin jumper” animation.

what does happen instead, when you spin the right stick and hold it deflected after that? should be a spin jumper as far as I recall. at least it was in past years. I don't know honestly, I never use those "fancy" shooting motions. They are not really efficient/usable anyway.

You can do it by double tapping X or kind of “half circling” away from your momentum. It sounds more complicated than it is, lol

Best bet is to check one of those YT videos with the hand cam…def possible though.

Will give the half circle against momentum a try. I was able to do a 360 spin then shoot but it didn’t seem to trigger the specific signature. Penny has a cool one too that gives him that dope inward trick spin shot he did. 2K seemed to quietly add them in a patch but never announced it.

I've done it a handful of time. Square actually works better. For this move.

haven't bought 2k22, are there any more new signature stepbacks/post fades/floaters etc. in the game? i was worried a lot of them had gotten taken out all together but for MJ to have his own animation now there must have been a few more added as well. it was kind of ridiculous having one for ben mclemore and glenn robinson III but not a player like Mike
