The shot from that video was supposed to be a simple pick and Pop, but instead on the catch he dribbles and then pulls up.

What causes this?

If you're the one who controls him then you're very heavy on Lstick and didn't let LS go and got it upwards while shooting so that he first take a dribble upfornt and J.

Let LS neutral and he won't. And that ain't a tendency shot ofcourse if you're the one controlling.

It looks like a hop jumper, and I think there's a tendency for that (I know there's one for stepbacks, but he technically didn't step back). If there's not, it might be tied to the Stepback tendency.

No tendency for hop shots. Also stepback is on zero.

I'm guessing it has to be connected to his spot up mid range tendency. Which I always assumed controls how often he takes the mid ranges off the catch

It could be something under the hood that allows for AI-controlled players to gather in the opposite direction of a closeout; maybe something we can't control. I wouldn't sweat it too much, though.

Is there a step through shot tendency this year? Maybe that

Yeah, but it's on Zero. My guess is it has to be connected to the spot up mis range tendency. I'm gonna lower it to zero, and increase the mid range center/left/right and see if I get a better result.
