    Introduction:

After nearly 9 months and many hours of blood, sweat, tears, and freeze-ups, we are excited to announce the new release of our Ultimate Retro Roster. We were very happy with our Super 65 Classic Roster for PS3 released last May, but given what is possible with REDitor, we just couldn't resist seeing what was possible for the 360. Our goal is authenticity that follows in the footsteps of the great work of PortlandBlazer, along with sim stat accuracy (Wilt averages 50 ppg) Hours of research went into making less known teams as authentic as possible. Of the 93 teams only 21 are from the original game, and ratings, tendencies, accessories, signatures have been reworked.

    Acknowledgments:

We would like to credit the following guys for either directly or indirectly contributing to this roster. THANK YOU, to:

Vlad Zola, Jr. and Hokuoguy for REDitor II. Without REDitor, this project would not have even been attempted. In addition, they have been extremely helpful and responsive with questions. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone who wants to deepen their experience of the 2K series to support their efforts. It's worth far outweighs the cost.

PortlandBlazer for his Historic Match-ups Roster. Many of the accessories and missing players from default teams were from his roster. Though most of the CAPs (over 200) were of our own creation, there were some more current players we used of his and these teams are noted on the team list. We also used some of his coach and arena edits.

youALREADYknow for his insightful perspective on game play edits.
Slimm44 for some of the various scaling concepts in regard to editing ratings/tendencies.
Vannwolfhawk for his work on playbooks. Playbook changes are critical
Elknavo for insight shared regarding the Sim stats engine, especially the shot rating to field goal % link.
Imperial and Barockafella for guidance on avoiding freeze ups and a few CAPs from Imperial's Retirement roster.

PB = Many CAPs from Portlandblazer’s roster. (all have been edited to fit our roster’s philosophy)

-Reworked arenas. Older arenas have more of a retro look and feel. Floor colors are now more accurate.
-Edited coaches to look A LITTLE more accurate.
-Revised coaching profiles to replicate more era specific gameplay.
-Edited playbooks with Vannwolfhawks’s most recent analysis of classic playbooks. Removed non working classic plays and gave many teams more player specific plays. This will be ongoing as well.
-Added draft information to player cards
-Corrected ages, numbers, positions, and college information.
-Added draft information to all player cards (very tedious task btw)
-Corrected and edited many signatures. More edits to this to come as well.
-Added NikeID file for more accurate retro shoes.

Note: We have noticed random occasions of players’ shoe colors returning to generic black, gray, and white. Not sure why this happens, but there is no telling given a roster of this size. Please keep in mind that despite the months of work that has gone into it, there will still be errors. Enjoy and we welcome feedback!

    Coming soon…1986-87 Season roster...

I don't believe in cyberface look-a-likes, so we used our original CAPs for most teams.

Here is a preview video to show the team list as well. Keep in mind that ratings are not yet completed, so the team ratings and rotations will not look right.

i'm psyched to see this and play with your classic teams.

I wanted to test those Chamberlain things I messaged you about Sellaz, so I made the '61 hawks and warriors today. Just drained a mid-ranger with Lovellette using the Duckworth shot. looking forward to checking out your interpretations of the classics.

I think you need a '*' by the 1973 Cougars.
            Just fixed it...

Oh and yeah...Lovellete has got to have that one handed set shot going...

For the most part.... The teams that we kept from the PS3 will be very similar, but having REDitor we are able to afford rethinking and adjusting some of the tendencies quickly. Such as trimming off even more of the animation fluff on shot types and dribble moves. We also have a slider set that worked well with the PS3 version. Given that we obtained sim stat accuracy, there also needed to be slider tweaks for gameplay.

which face did you use for the 1961 Chamberlain? I tried the younger one that came with the DLC (2344), but i'm not feeling it.

I went with the DLC one, but used the older look without a headband for 1967.

Bigdaddie, we are both in our mid-30's with 5 kids between us. In the mid-80's Sellaz and I bought a game for the Commodore 64 called NBA by Avalon Hill that had many of these historic teams. The game was basically a stat Simulator that was a perfect SIM replicator that enabled you to compare historic match ups throughout different eras. I guess you could say we took what we started as kids and transformed it into what you see here. We are very excited and I can say with this roster, I will never buy another basketball game.

This is true...though I wouldn't necessarily say I would never buy another basketball game...if they allow you to choose era presentation one day I am sold...

Commodore 64!!! NBA, Hardball and 4th and Inches pretty much dominated my pre-nintendo life. I haven't though about the Commodore 64 in YEARS!

This roster sounds absolutely amazing. When do you anticipate releasing it to the community? My friends and I have been living off the PB and Del63's 80v90 roster but seeing all these 70's and 80's teams has gotten me very excited. 2k13 is going to have to come strong to pull me away from all of these awesome rosters.

Thank you for your efforts. Can't wait to try these teams out...and yeah, great call on that 80's Nets team, they were filthy!

Hardball was a good one! Played a lot of GBA 2 on 2 Basketball and Streets Sports Basketball was a classic.

At this phase in the game all the players are made with accessories and on correct teams. Getting the teams sorted on the game chronologically and dealing with freeze issues has been a major task. We are doing ratings and tendencies now and though it moves faster having REDitor, it's still a process. Our goal for first release will be to have every team completed with the exception of sig adjustments. All that to say I don't know. But we have momentum now and we will definitely get A version up in plenty of time to enjoy before 2k13.
