Re: The Purist(s) NBA 2K11 Sliders (Post-Patch)

i played with sliders last year that had it almost down pat. i forget who made it, but they were on the easier side but the computers weren't pushovers - they made open shots, played defense, etc. but the main factor of realism is based on the player himself but we view this from different perspectives. i played realistically, allowing plays to develop and then i played hard defense down the line. i would end up having realistic numbers but i would play in a realistic way so that the numbers came out as such - i didn't shoot every time i could or always went on fastbreaks.that's how i would like to play and these sliders are just the first ones that i've tested to a higher extent. i'll keep on searching though and let you know how i think of them. i'm not saying it's better if we all play on rookie mode but play realistically because that's not a challenge at all and would be even harder to come out with life-like stats when all of your shots are going in. i'm just saying, there is a midpoint where there is equal give and take between the two sides the sliders vs. the player playing.

thank you for sharing htese sliders though. i'm sure with some teams they would be perfect, but for me, i don't think it's there. i will see if i tweak it and would let you know how things go from there.

Cool, man.

I definitely hear what you are saying.

I'm just describing the philosophy that informed the development of these sliders. That is not to say that I was successful.

In fact, I probably failed on most counts.

Good luck!

Greenie I share you philosophy when it comes to sports gaming. That is a big reason why I play in coach mode - I don't want my "button smashing" getting in the way of realistic results. Besides, I like the tactical elements of sports. Let me say on behalf of all us coach mode players, we sure do wish you'd come over to our side and help us with our sliders...

I don't know. I have PS3.

You might have to manually enter the numbers.

Lol. Thanks, man.

I think they are already there, because I basically tuned the CPU to play well.

The only thing you would need to adjust is shooting fouls. Start at 50 and move up slowly. You shouldn't have to go above 55.

I'm pretty much done with projects. I've thrown two months of my life away, that's enough.

They pretty much look perfect, and it sounds like the games are really competitive. You should beat the Cavs, they are probably the worst team in the NBA, and you did.

The only thing I'm wondering is if OFF AWR might have to come back down a little. 32 CPU assists is a bit high. Keep your eye on that number.

Otherwise, perfect.

Looks like that trade is working out for you so far.

I've already simmed another season, let Monroe, Weeks, Thad, Speights, Nocioni walk. Exercised ET's option. And then was offered the 4th overall from PHO with Gortat for the 5th overall and Perkins. I was actually astounded at how perfectly balanced the offer was (and w/ my beast 2nd yr C waiting in the wings, I thought Gortat would adjust to being a backup much better than Kendrick), so I accepted. I took a 6'7 215 SG w/ the 4th overall, who is quite nice. So now I'm running with:

Holiday
Malik Fields (4th overall 2012 draft)
Evan Turner
Elton Brand
Marcel Dupin (5th overall 2011 draft)

6th man: Lou

My defense has jumped from the mid-twenties overall to 15th, so the plan is in motion. I may only go a few more seasons before I start playing. I want more real NBA players in my league this time.
