Updates for Super Star Level - Monday, Oct. 17th @ 2:20 pm

More testing, and played 3 games reviewing the impact of the QUICKNESS and VERTICAL slider on shooting percentages and the ability to create space. At the previous numbers the game became a bit "arcadish" as player movements didn't quite look realistic. BUT, I want to keep the defensive pressure sets as I've tweaked those to near perfection.

So, latest changes noted here:

OFFENSE (User / CPU):
Inside Shot Success
: 46 / 46
Close Shot Success: 46 / 46
Mid-Range Success: 49 / 49
3-Pt Success: 50 / 50
- these will remain at 50
Layup Success: 47 / 47
Dunk Success: 49 / 49
Pass Accuracy: 49 (lowered from 50) / 49


ATTRIBUTES (User / CPU):

Quickness: 52 / 50
Vertical: 52 / 50

Yes, any changes will be noted here in the latter posts, BUT page 1 - post 1 will ALWAYS have the latest changes. Sorry for the confusion, but I had developed a set of Pro sliders first, followed by All-star. But with my dissatisfaction of the cpu's play, I wanted to jump to Super-Star. It's taking me some time to get them correct, so please bear with me. These are geared for 2K11, but *might* translate over to 2k12, but I don't know that for a fact.

I want to get the shooting percentages to with a normal NBA range, also allowing for the occasional aberration. But I think you would enjoy the latest super-star sliders because they really make the gameplay and animations stand out. Thanks!

2 updates (super star level) - Monday, Oct. 17th @ 5:45 pm

OFFENSE (User / CPU):
Inside Shot Success
: 47 / 47 (both raised from 46 each)
Close Shot Success: 47 / 47 (both raised from 46 each)

I was seeing very good low-post players struggle with shooting percentages. This should help.

The only tweaks that will now need to be made MIGHT POSSIBLY be updating Layup Success, and possibly the two noted above (should percentages still be too low). But everything else plays GREAT, so I believe I'm nearing a "final" set.

hey mike do you know of any site that breaks down the player ratings for College Hoops 2K8?

let a detailed explanation of each rating.....i'm trying to work on the college hoops alumni rosters but the ratings aren't very clear as to what they effect

sorry for getting OT just can't find any ratings breakdowns anywhere

try looking it up on gamefaqs.com - sometimes I've found some good written tutorial stuff there. I don't have the game any longer, but I may repurchase it if you can pull this off. The stupid zone defense thing really irked me (where passes would get picked off in bunches). But try that site and see...otherwise I'm not sure.

Okay, 2 small updates and I think I've about arrived. Played an insanely fun game using my 1985-86 season rosters. This gives me a wide variety of rosters that I've used for testing and I think this should just about do it. Also, shooting sliders are PERFECT, so the only changes are below (Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 1:30 am):

ATTRIBUTES (User / CPU):
Vertical: 53 (RAISED FROM 52) / 50
Blocking: 43 / 64 (LOWERED FROM 65)

CPU was blocking too many shots, so the sweet spot appears to be 64. At 63 they didn't get many at all. User vertical helps with getting shots off in traffic. Was seeing some shots getting blocked or altered that shouldn't have. NOTE: I know some may disagree with this, but if you lower the "contest shots" sliders below 100, it simply makes getting shots off in the paint WAY too easy.

But these 2 changes above should be just about it. I like the way the cpu has good quickness, but not overpowering. And don't let one quarter fool you (I know the temptation is to quit in the middle of a bad period). I was playing a game from the 86 rosters tonight and the cpu shot 67% on me in the 1st quarter... But I was able to clamp down and cut a 15 point deficit to 4 at halftime. I took an 8 point lead in the 3rd, but then got careless in the 4th and lost by 12. The cpu shot 52% against me and Jordan had 36 pts, 10 rebs, and 7 assts. My double-teams both helped and hurt me as he was finding Woolridge for shots down the lane or Macy and Paxson for wide open jumpers. Even losing feels good with these sliders on superstar...

I think this should pretty much wrap up this set... More testing tonight with different PG matchups. 53 quickness and vertical is the sweet spot with this set, with the cpu lowered to 49. At 50 cpu quickness / vertical it was VERY hard to get past a player, so the 1 point change was key in creating the ability to make space and get to the hoop.

I also lowered user 3 point attempts, though I feel this has little bearing on the game as most players run behind the line.

Updates to super star level (everything on page 1 - post 1 is current) - Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 3:15 am:

ATTRIBUTES (User / CPU):
Quickness: 53 / 49 (lowered from 50)
Vertical: 53 / 49 (lowered from 50)

TENDENCIES (User / CPU):

Take 3-PT Shots: 0 (lowered from 10) / 10
