Note: All ratings are for both User and CPU. I believe that the best slider sets are the ones that have identical values for both User and CPU sliders. It shouldn't be a surprise that this results in more of a balanced game.

I've noticed that depending on whether you have playcalling on Auto or Manual, you get different, yet realistic results. I personally have no problem with either. Auto can be nice if you want more of a "flow" to your game with the coach or PG making the calls for you (running these plays can make it interesting and sometimes more competitive.) Manual is of course fine because calling one's own plays is always a fun part of the game, and fun can be had even when no plays are called at all, as I believe the offensive tendencies in the slider set come out the most. But play around with these and see what you like for realism/fun.
