That's a pretty wide range...

It depends on the tempo some teams take. Two slow tempo defensive teams are gonna take less shots cause every shot will be contested and you have a ton of free throws. While two fastbreak teams will put up an incredible amount of shots.

I've seen games where one team had only 66 shot attempts and the other team had like 98. The reason being is that the other team was getting to the free throw line consistently.

The explanation of 70 to 100 is perfect.

Fast paced teams like Philly often shoot near 90, but have shot near 100.
Slow paced teams like the Pistons shoot about 70 something, sometimes in the 60's.

The actual average last season was 81 attempts. But, you have to take into count the freethrows also. Basically, the free throw attempts + the amount of shots should equal about 100. When teams only shoot around 60 shots, they usually have about 35 free throw attempts. When the teams who shoot about 80 shots they usually have only about 20 something attempts.

Yeah, I was wondering this too, cuz I'm averaging about 100 non-FT shots per game in my franchise and I thought that was kinda high. I try to not shoot early in the shot clock, but I tend to take a shot as soon as I see an opening. My opponents average about 85 shots per game.
