    Cud Chewing?

I am starting to notice a lot of cud chewing in newer sports titles, including NBA AND NFL 2k8. For you flatlanders check out the video below.

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jqd5_6cKIyc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Jqd5_6cKIyc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

You can see a lot of this at the free throw line. I am just wondering what the developers are going for. Are the players chewing gum?, talking? Tony Parker is a good example of a French Cud chewer in the demo. It does not look natural. I realize this is not as important as nipple gate, but I think it is worth mentioning, since it is showing up in more and more games

    Re: Cud Chewing?

I think it's a combo of both... but this has been going on for a long time... i remember nba live 98 for PSx had something that resembled gum chewing and talking after foul calls when the player was walking up court after the call

Foul Parker in the demo and watch him shoot free throws... then watch the video, I'm just saying..

I guess they figured some kind of mouth/facial animation is better (more realistic and life-like) than lifeless faces that never move during the game. It's kind of eerie to see well rendered faces not moving at all.

It would be so cool to see when we get to the point that you could have Jordan sticking his tongue out. Some day you'll probably see full mouth animations (lips, teeth, tongue all moving) but for now it looks like cud-chewing is where we're at.

That's the last NBA Live I had real fun with...man, I loved that game.

Lol... I just meant clearly visible rendered teeth moving up and down (as in jaw movement when someone is speaking) not a bunch of teeth independtly moving around in someone's mouth.

When I read that, I thought of the independent teeth. It was an interesting thought.
