Cpu plays no zone at all?

I had NBA 2k8 when it came out but there was way to much wrong with it and was unplayable in my opinon. Ive rented it a bunch of times bc I wanted to play a NBA game, and last time I played it was when the patch came out. Patch did fix alot, but I didn't pay much attention to this till I got College Hoops 2k8. The CPy plays no zone at all in NBA 2k8 which is as unreal and arcade as it gets in a game. Im close to buying NBA 2k8 again but b4 I do I was woundering can you go into teams profiles and change there defense to zone or anything other then man to man for the cpu? You can do this in college hoops. If I can manually do this in NBA 2k8 and change the teams D to what they ussually accually play that would solve the problem for me.

well how much bball do you watch?? because mot teams almost never play zone or do it for maybe a 2 or 3 plays in a game..the way most teams use the rule is to play pick and rolls differently or to load up on offensive players because there is no illegal defense.. If your expecting to see teams just playing zone for several minutes at a time thats unrealistic...

disagreed. While you are right that NBA teams run zone for a few plays, they still do it and in NBA 2k8 the CPU NEVER does it. Have you seen portland's zone defense? They used it to shut down Golden State beautifully.

Yes, the NBA mostly runs man defense but the option for cpu zone defense should be in the game. It would be nice to prepare against diffrent defenses in the game rather than man-to-man each game.

It would be nice if the computer would mix up a little zone now and then for the teams that actually use it in real life. As long as they don't use it too much though.

Very rarely if ever will you see a team start a game in a zone. It's usually an adjustment a team will go to if need be.

It doesn't bother me that much thought that the CPU does not play zone just for the fact that I have always hated the zone. It's like a cheap gimmick style of defense for poor defenders rather than just being a manning up and staying in front of your opponent. It's why I have had a hard time being a fan of the college game, as the zone teams really make the games ugly.

I hate watching it and I hate playing it myself. I have actually been in pickup games before where people on my team wanted to play a zone. It's like "No I got a better idea....how about we all pick a man, guard them, and if need be help each other out"

Zone would be a great addition for next year. Also I love playing zone in real basketball I get tons of steals. Man's nice too but I like zone better

Actually, a zone only makes basketball ugly when a team doesn't have good jump shooters. Good college teams always have a zone, at least in their back pocket, so they can exploit teams with bad jump shooting. The Pistons have been quite successful at times with Flip Saunder's zone defenses and they were the best defense in the NBA man for man when they won a championship and went back the next year. So saying that zone defense is just a "gimmick" for weak defensive teams is ignorant.

Its ignorant of you to think that a college zone and an NBA zone are the same thing.

IMO, zone does not belong in the NBA anyway....supposed to be the best of the best at that level. Play man or go home.
