That means no Mid-Level Exceptions or re-signing players under the Bird Rule.

so when i'm in free agency can i offer someone a contract if i am under the hard cap but not the actual salary cap???

i thought the hard cap, was, like, how much the owner was willing to spend, now that would be cool...

cuz, in the nba, if im not mistaken, the owner can go over the salary cap if they are willing to pay some kind of tax.... i dont know the exact rules...

If you are over the cap, you can only sign players to the league minimum, resign your own bird players, or sign a player to the midrange exemption.

In the NBA, you can go over the luxury tax threashhold as far as possible, if you are willing to pay the doller for doller tax. There isn't a hard cap in the NBA.

This was extremely simplified, but I just wanted to get the general idea out there.

thanks for clearing up the nba cap for me...

so, in 2k9 what does the hard cap mean exactly?

i have about 25 million available to use with the cavs, but it still wont let me sign players... cuz i am over the salary cap... does 2k not factor in the salary tax? when i saw the hard cap i assumed that was simply the amount of money the owner, on the game, was willing to spend, and that your performance could cause him to open or close his pocket book...

but, i think i might be wrong... from what i understanded from your post, i cant even offer to players if i am over the actual salary cap, regardless of i have open in my hard cap?

After I sign players I just go to the edit player screen and make my whole rosters pay the league minimum that way i can afford to sign high price FA's
