Does the vertical rating do anything?

I don't know if i'm just not very perceptive but I don't really see the rating having any effect on any of the animations. Some players like Yao Ming with 50 rating still elevate high off the ground to lay the ball in, block shots, or rebound. The only time where I think you can tell the difference is on jump balls. Some players with the high 90s vertical rating will get much higher off the ground.

    Has anyone noticed anything different?

At 0 yea, IMO the ratings are to high and you will rarely see the difference between players with default sliders...I play on HOF and decrease alot of the attribute sliders

oh there is certainly a noticeable difference with this attribute/slider.

      ive always had it low.
but when i tried tomba2k9 and his sliders, [he has vertical high] i immediately noticed the pogo stick leaps of the players...it looked wiered to me. like nba jam or something.
and i think there are different animations for blocks and rebs for players that have high vert...
ie: kemp in my sonics season when he goes for blocks. the attempt looks for emphatic. [and amazingly kemp like in its style]

Re: Does the vertical rating do anything?

As was said earlier one of the biggest things you'll notice are rebounding animations, it also effects blocking too.

Guys with low vertical do the vanilla jump-in-the-air-in-place and try to grab the board.

Guys with medium verticals will do the running 180-twist-in-the-air and grab with two hands backwards.

Guys with high verticals can do the one handed stretch-for-the-sky grab.

This is why vertical and rebounding go well together. Guys with high reb ratings are great for getting in place, but guys with good verticals will occasionally come out of nowhere and rob them.

It also effects blocks in the same way. Guys with low verticals are only going to block what's right in front of them. Guys with high verticals are far better at those emphatic running hero swats.

Lastly it effects the ability to catch alley oops. Anyone with a dunk rating over 60 can finish, but high vertical+dunk determines how accurate you have to be with your timing, and their willingness to catch and finish in traffic.
