waiting for a play to set up just cost me another game
There must be something im doing wrong. So many times at the end of a game I have 24 seconds to run a play. I call the play, go onto the blue circle. All the players are standing still, not moving. after 10 seconds, a few players finally start to jog in slow motion. With 10 seconds to go in the game, the play art finally appears. I make the first assigned pass. Hes on the blue circle...5 seconds...nothing comes up....buzzer goes off. Some please tell me what is going on, if i lose another game this way im going to stop calling plays all together

The playcalling is pretty bad, but the real question is, if you see that the play isn't going to execute, why would you just stand there and let time expire? Make something happen. -

I don't even bother to call plays. I just go with the flow and work the ball around in the half court game and get a man open.Comment

don't blame the play, if you just stood around waiting for the computer players to make something happen you deserved to lose... after the first 10 seconds u had 14 left to run an iso and try to score but you chose to stand there and let the clock run out...There must be something im doing wrong. Re: waiting for a play to set up just cost me another game
once again another post where people just jump to criticise without even answering the question.
Yes sure he should've run an iso or something when the play didn't work, but still you added nothing positive to the coversation but another ego boost for you.
To reply to the op, i don't have the answer but i agree that play calling is horrible. Quite often i run plays and they are too slow, the players just jog through, so if anyone knows how to makes them sprint through plays i'd like to know the answer too. My only advice is try using plays that are short. They seem to work a lot better.Comment

Re: waiting for a play to set up just cost me another game
How many teams run legit plays at the end of the game? Usually it's give it to your star and let him work. Maybe run a screen or two at him and try to find an open man, but either way, just run a quick screen or pick and roll or something at the end of a game. It's what majority of the teams would do anyway.Comment

Re: waiting for a play to set up just cost me another game
like a few posters said, some of you guys missed my point. It has nothing to do with the end of the game, or me being too stupid to do something other then wait for a play. that example that just happened to be one of the times it burned me. What im saying is it takes way longer then 24 second shot clock to even get through half of the plays sometime, even if Im on the circle by 23 and am throwing the pass the second it directs me. I should be able to call a play with a full shot clock and have it run completely no? Why include any plays at all other then pick and roll then?Comment

the real maddening (no pun intended) part of this is the computer can run the same play in under 24 seconds. there is a play that i used to run when i played as the spurs in my association that the computer would run to completetion, but i would would still havelike a few posters said, some of you guys missed my point. 3 or 4 more passes to make every time i ran it. i feel your pain, there is just no way around it.Comment

Honestly you should have used a quick hitter (Dual Player Control) for the last play instead of a long drawn out play. I say it is bad coaching because the slow play calling is a constant and YOU decided to use it at the end of the gameConcrete evidence/videos pleaseComment
