NBA 2K10 Q&A: Retail Copy in Hand

Please forgive me if some of this questions have been answered (but most likely they havent since I read the whole thread) and/or if they seem to be irrelevant ... ...

- Gameplay or Signature Q´s:

1. As individuals, from what I have read and hear, the players seem to behaive as their real life counterparts (posting when they would likely do, driving to the lane or just staying close to the 3pt line) ...

but as a team (NO & SA & CHA: playing a slow pace game - NY & GS & PHO: playing a fast paced game - CLE & BOS: playing great defense and harrasing their opponents on that side), do they ?

2. Last year if you assigned some plays to the playbook the AI (CPU) would just ignore them and wouldnt playcall them, to some extend all the teams would just call the same plays over and over. Is it different this time around ?

3. Have you tested, after downloading the game to the HD, that the slowdown has gones or is reduced to the point of not being a complain ?

- Association or Season Q´s:

1. Have you simmed a season ?
2. if so, are the simmed stats on par with what you would expect on real life ?
3. Are there still the same problems like last year (huge FG%, few RBS, lots of AST) ?

- Other complementary Q´s:

1. Can you really change the coaches themselves (not the coaching slider or tendencies but the individuals) ?
2. If so, Is there any coaches FA pool (be it with real life unhired coaches and/or created ones) ?
3. Can we edit the created ones ?
4. Can we promote asistant coaches to coaches ?

5. Besides the FA pool, is there any Retirement pool where you can put the players that retire whitin the season, so they wont be consider as FA´s for the next season and we wont have to alter their ratings (this could also be used to place the players that went to Europe with multiyear contracts) ?

Not in this year. I know this for a fact as I asked about it at the launch party. Kicked balls are still there.

Fouls need to be increased from the default for sure. There's seemingly nothing being called out of the box.

Guys, I need to sidestep questions for a bit and give you some unfortunate news.

Private Team-up games are bugged to the point where most people will deem the mode unplayable.

I'll try my best to explain.

Right now, we've encountered 2/3 bugs that absolutely kill this mode for practically everyone.

Scenario: 3 guys playing on the same team vs. the CPU. Pro difficulty. PG, SG and SF being controlled.

1) There's a bug where somehow, the PG is making their subs for the 2nd or 3rd time and while someone else is making subs and all players will have the name of the PG's player in their current position. Here is a screen shot:



Now, everyone can still make subs. The problem is only the PG's name will be reflected. The other players can press left or right and you will see guys get off the bench, but you can't see their names in that menu. This does not go away and you must restart another game.

2. Everyone has a designated color to start the game. PG is red, SG is blue, SF is yellow. These aren't the actual colors, I'm just using them for this example. Well, sometimes what is happening is after timeouts, the colors will be all screwed up but you maintain your position. We've had scenarios where after a timeout (user called AND CPU called) where the PG is suddenly blue, the SG is yellow and the SF is red. There's no consistency to it, but it's very disorienting when it happens.

3. To piggyback on bug 2, there are times when the players POSITIONS will get all screwed up. In a few games where I started as the PG, I've been switched to the SG while others have been switched to other positions as well. It only switches among the user controlled positions and there's no consistency to this either. To make it worse, there are times where your player's color gets switched with the position switch as well and times where it doesn't.

4. When creating a team-up game privately, you are thrown into a lobby to set up the game. Once the game is over, you are brought back to this lobby where you can re-start a new game. Problem is, every time you go to restart the game, everyone but the host gets kicked a good % of the time and I believe their console freezes.

5. The CPU does not seem to make subs for the guys you are NOT controlling. If they do, they leave players in way too long and will be extremely tired. The CPU manages their fully CPU controlled team extremely well, just not your CPU teammates. You can not control the CPU teammate subs.

It's such a shame because this mode is just a complete blast against the computer now. They are running a solid offense and you really have to man up this year on your man.

Momentous and a few others tested all this out extensively last night. There is no consistency to any of these bugs, so we can't even suggest how to reproduce. If we were, I'm sure 2k would be able to address them.

For the record, we played one ranked team-up game and none of this happened during it. Not sure if that's the key or what.... but if you didn't know, in a ranked team-up game, you can't select your sides or position.

That doesn't sound good at all but hopefully that is something that can be addressed in a patch, if they're able to determine what's causing that.

That sucks for team up guys... hopefully it can get patched for them.

I'm just praying there's no glaring bugs in association mode.

That really killed team up for me, all I do is play team up private games. Thanks for the heads up pared.

Good point. I'll figure something out.

Here are three things I've seen that definitely are worth mentioning:

1) The CPU passes off the backboard and turns it over way too often. This happens during inbounds plays and baseline passes.

2) There is one instance where the CPU runs the break and the ball handler passes the ball behind his teammate. Now, at first I thought it was an unforced turnover and liked it. But I've seen the same exact scenario happen repeatedly. Looks to me like it's just a broken routine during the break.

3) I can completely abuse the quick pick and roll. At first, the CPU doubles me and does not allow me to get a pass off after about the 2nd or 3rd time. However, I kept at it and the CPU does not have guys fill the paint or at least cheat enough to deflect the pass in there.
