Whats Your Biggest Beef With 2K10 Gameplay?

***Note I am not a troll nor is biased but I just want an opinion so my decision will be easier between Live & 2K. This-Gen I loved 2K7 & 2k8 but hated 2K9 with a passion because of the herky jerk movement where I feel that I don't have total control of my players. I just want a good bball game. I can careless if 2K or Live makes it***

What do you dislike most about this game in terms of gameplay? I haven't bought this game nor played it yet but I pray to god it doesnt have that herky jerk movement where one moment you have control of your guy the next he is out of position. Is this still in the game?

Well back to my original question. What do you dislike most about the gameplay that makes this game less enjoying?

These may not be big beefs but they are something that I have always wanted to see for the last several years now:

1- A Madden Style SUPERSIM feature that allows you to sim in and out of a game so you can fast forward to the key moments and jump in and play whenever you want. The Sim to End feature is nice to have when you no longer want to play...but sometimes, we just want to sim the beginning and jump in later on. Madden's Super Sim feature would be an awesome and time saving tool to have in Franchise Mode.

2- An IMPORT FRANCHISE option that would allow us to finally import our exisiting Franchises from previous versions of 2K basketball games. I have about 5 concurrent Franchises running at different points from previous versions of the game and I am getting sick and tired of starting it all over again every year from scratch...Its like a bad episode of Ground Hog's Day Redux! Somebody's gotta offer this feature one day in one of these Sports games!

3- Smooth out some of the movement animations. While this year's game is better than any past game in regards to smooth flowing animations, there are still areas under the boards where players on occassion will still reverse directions and turn around instantaneously without a fluid range of motion which makes some areas still look a little 'stilted' or unpolished.

4- BUILD an ARENA Feature. I would love the ability to create my custom team, enter them into the NBA Franchise and also Build my own Custom Arena with many options to choose from or even have upgrades that I can purchase throughout my Franchise with money my team has earned thru ticket sales, marketing, revenue, etc. I would much rather this than that silly SkyBox or Crib Mode!

Why don't you just download the demo and make your own decision? If you think the movement is herky jerky, why are you here looking for comments when video can show you movement. Read reviews. The OS review is pretty good. The IGN review, for once, doesn't completely suck. If reviews and demos aren't enough for you, these exact questions are pretty much answered in the impressions thread. Have at it.

The game is pretty smooth. No more long animations where you lose control of your player. At the same time the controls still isn't messing with 2k7 in my opinion. They need a new way to dribble. A new system. More like freestyle dribbling, but the feature in the game are enough to make it the best option on the market if your getting one. Live is great but its still incomplete. Missing animations for situations and just feels out of the times. This game is battling MLB: The Show as far as little things and presentation go. A.i. still needs work and there's lag here and there.

Why don't you just download the demo and make your own decision? If you think the movement is herky jerky, why are you here looking for comments when video can show you movement. Read reviews. The OS review is pretty good. The IGN review, for once, doesn't completely suck.

That's because I am a silver member on XBL and you need to be a gold member to D/L the demo last time I checked.


Also none of the reviews (trust me I read them all or most) ever mention the herky jerky animation/collisions because I feel that they pay no mind to it. Most reviews I read put more emphasis in presentation and my player mode than they do with gameplay. Also videos don't do me any justice. How many wack games looks good in videos but sucks animal balls when you play it? Lots. You ever thought of that?

I don't understand why more people arent bringing up the huge problem in the fact that you can still get in the paint and score easy even with fixed sliders and having yourself double or triple teamed

Its annoying to see almost half your teams points is from in the paint. Very unreleastic

Thats really the only thing that really frustrates me. I work hard on defense yet its almost impossible to stop this from happening

Yes that is one of my beefs.

Also the linked animations are terrible need much much ironing out.

Teammate Defense AI is just ridiculous.

I hate that you have to have skill to play this game.

I hate that when a CPU player is wide open they will make baskets, like they do in real life...well most of the time.

I hate that 7" guys standing next to the goal, will make the shot if I don't get in their face and contest the shot, like they do in real life.

I hate that when players go down low and slow down they auto-post. In real life that's exactly what players do when they go down low, unless they are driving.

I hate that I have to man-up and play defense, because I'm not that good of a gamer and so usually I play off the ball and let the CPU do my defense.

I hate that if I leave the lane wide open, the CPU will throw an alley oop. Like they do in real life.

I hate that Rookie lvl is so easy, and Hall of Fame lvl is so hard.

I hate that this game is so realistic.....

Exactly people!!! That's the type of bull I"ve been reading over the last few days. The framerate issue is a real hindrance, but most of the other gripes are garbage.

my biggest beef is that when i play 12 minute quarters on my player the scoring is usually very realistic but when the sim starts the score shoots up.

every game has ended like 150-130

Great Post!!!!! It's funny how people come on here to complain about silly stuff......we know that their is framerate issues get past it until the patch...

put it this way, everyone that has purchased both games or rented them prefer live10 after playing both games. 2k10 just seems dull and boring after playing live plus with all the issues 2k has(framrate,herky jerky,points in paint, dum AI,etc.

Getting in the paint without effort and then scoring with ease even when the shot is contested.

Even the guards do this with 2 Giant defender contesting them

I'll tell you if they would just enforce the 3 seconds in the key rule on offense.....it would help a great deal !!

Overall a very good game other than this one glaring issue and it's a total game killer when playing online : (

Oh not everyone who has played both sticks with Live...I still can't decide which I like better, but after playing both for the past few days, I think 2k is inching ahead. Sure, it's same old same old from the last few years, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Live is definitely improved and fresh, but after playing like 20 games, it's flaws start sticking out more and more.

When you say the same as in last few years does that include 2k8 cause that game was hella fun but i hated 2k9.

Isomotion needs an overhaul. It's too awkward to size up someone and just drive past them unless they get vacuumed into that D-Wade style crossover. It just needs to be more intuitive than it is. I had to fight the controller just to do a non pro hop backstep.
