    Controller Set-up...

I have decided to try playing on Alternate A layout because I like the ability to use the spin move(Y). The one thing I have yet to figure out is in this controller layout... is the ability to stepback not available as with the default layout?

And is it common for the ball handler... even a very good one, while crossing over(B) to suddenly loose the ball?

What are some of the benefits of using alternate A controller layout?

Well last year the step-back while using Alternate A could be achieved by pressing X (shoot button) believe it or not. So yo ucan try that and see if it's the same now. Just tap the X while moving and you can either hop step forward or step back. (this was all on the 360)

Yeah, just tap X. It's like the Y button for the default controller setup, tap X without RT for a jump stop, with RT for a spin. Tap X while moving the LS away from the basket for a step back.

I use Alternate A because it's way easier to pull off dribble moves than the default setup. I could either remember to pull LT, rotate LS in half circle starting from ball hand, etc. and hope I did the right move... or just press Y.

People are definitely losing the ball more often this year than in 2k9... my roommate's My Player PG has 90 ball handling but will still lose the ball half the time he tries a double crossover.
