Y button drop step spin thing

the term escapes me right now but
i dont know if im doing it wrong but i just spent a game controlling both teams .. then i tried some individual 1 on1 s
seems like it results in a turnover 9 times out of 10
even when i have the perfect angle ... my elbow will magically find the nearest mans chin for the charge
least in 2k9 it had a higher sucess rate
maybe im doing it wrong.. what are your experiences with it?

It has to be used at a special moment. I would tell you. But I’ll let you find out on your own. Sorry this one is a family secret I won’t be release until 2k11….lol<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

To be honest man, its a good thing they made the success rate low because in last years game, it was definitely exploded. Btw, the post mode can be done. You have to be in a good position to perform the hop step/ drop step move. It does help if you have a high momentum as it will make these moves a bit more seamless and much more easy to perform. But by no means is its success rate high like last year. Which IMO is a good thing.

      -Hope this helps any.

I agree that lowering the success rate of the drop-step spin off the driving dribble is a positive. However, I do not like the consequence of every mistimed spin. As other posters have mentioned, there seem to be tremendous opportunities for drop step spins (open area to spin toward) but too often it seems to magically result in an offensive foul or turnover for the simple sake of not making the play too easy to exploit.

I would be much more in favor of just not allowing the spin to happen in situations that are not applicable. Instead of throwing a charge our way every 9 out of 10 times we try to spin to an open area, perhaps the game could just initiate the player picking up his dribble or creating contact but not enough to commit a charge.

Right now, when I recognize a spin-move situation, it's a game of chance. It may work out really well, it may work out disastrously. There is no middle ground.

I don't mind the Y button drop step spin, but how come when you do a regular hop step, there is NO elevation? Even in practice mode with a player like Wade, he doesn't get off the ground.

You have to use it at the right time. I'll try to post videos of it in action.

do it on a fastbreak if u see a defender coming hold turbo and push y for a spin or let go of turbo & just push y for hop step if u do it while defenders are in front of u most times u will travel or get a charge

No offense pal... but in all your posts you always come off as someone who thinks he is God's gift to 2K basketball. You may be really good, but that's no reason to put down other people who aren't as 'uber' as you. I've been noticing it a while now and just thought I'd say.

Hey...go easy on jeebs, he's just trying to help.

Not his fault he has a magical copy of 2K10 where there's no bugs and he's capable of pulling off animations that were taken out of the game.

someone said that you need momentum to make it seamless but i notice that when i play the cpu that i get 2 dribbles before the defender becomes a stone wall and i can't back them down anymore (regardless of any strngth advantage i might have) any tips to back the cpu down further?
