Jumpshooting, whats your method?
after trying to find countless ways to shoot on HOF i think now that the button is better than the shot stick this yearive been using the stick forever but now it seems useless unless shooting a floater or layup. Every that uses a shotstick tell me your methods for making sure the release is on point. I hate shooting this year because ther are to many button tap releases unlike 2k9 where you had control of your release point.

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
I use the shot stick and I try to release it at the point when the ball leaves the player's hands. -
Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
I find that the best release point for all players is to release when the ball is covering the player's faceComment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
man i miss the 2k9 method where we had more control over shot releases. I hope they bring it back this year. in 2k9 i took the rockets into practice mode and dominated everyone because i knew the shot releases of all my players. Now it seems for about luck than skill. tap button and hope it goes inComment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
I only use square button (PS#) when shooting normal jumpers or fadeaways. Anything else like leaners, runners, floaters, drifters, layups, and dunks, I use the shot stick.Comment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
turbo releases dont work with the shotstick this year. 2k8 shooting was perfect as well as 2k9. they need to slow down defense recovery and use ch2k8 shooting mechanics. I hope Mike wang reads this
CH2k8 is still the standard in basketball gamesComment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
I don't mean to edit what everyone has already said about the proper release point but, with majority of players, it's at the highest peak of a players jump. Not at the players "hand-to-face" point or the snap of the players wrist. If you time this correctly, you should be successful with the majority of players jump shots. This is what the developers called the "apex" point of a players jumper.
I have noticed that several players are a bit different. One that is very noticeable is the one used by Elton Brand. You will need to hold it a tad bit longer to get a proper release as it is a bit distorted.Comment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
Jumpshoots should not be automaic
I'll quote myself from another thread
The one thing I don't agree with....is that last year you made too many contested shots. You could be in someone pants and if they had a "perfect release" it was going in more likely. Shooting shouldn't be automatic thing. I don't like how everyone knew their players releases. This year they focus on the real fundamental of squaring shoulders to the basket and having feet set underneath.Last edited by jeebs9; 02-08-2010, 05:47 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
My best opinion on how to shoot in this game as far as method goes....if u are doing triple threat moves, jabs, shot fakes, etc, its better to use the shot stick....You will notice that when u do triple threat moves and try to press the X button to shoot their is a delay and it will mess up your timing....Using the shotstick; their is no delay coming out of your triple threat and shooting.....
Now for shooting spot-up jumpers its best to use the X button...
When shooting off the dribble its kinda ur preference...I use the X button although i think the shotstick may be better, im jus not used to doing it that way.
But I know for a fact its best to use the shotstick on triple threats...ive labbed it and found there is no hitch or delay. Try it for yourself and let me know what u think.Yeah so in summation I don't know who you racing I'm already at the finish line with the flag waving, c'mon!Comment

Re: Jumpshooting, whats your method?
I disagree, because the primary task should be to focus on the sport of basketball itself, as opposed to figuring out the shot releases for each player on the court. That means the game should reward me if I manage to get a good shooter open, instead of making me brick wide open shots just because my timing was off by a few miliseconds.
But if we were to do as you suggest, then by extension, layups and dunks shouldn't be automatic either. There's not much of a balance when layups require only a flick of the stick, and jumpshots need so much practice.Comment
