    NBA 2K11 Preview (Joystiq)

Joystiq has posted their NBA 2K11 preview.

"The realism of the presentation was given more weight thanks to the new player models, animations and the completely rewritten dribbling engine that provides 1:1 ball-handling via the right analog stick. This year, players have a more defined look -- smaller guys look the way they should and all of the players don't have the bulky shoulders of previous years' releases. In addition, with the changes to the way the ball is handled, 2K is promising more dynamic action and less in the way of canned animations -- there's even an in-air collision system now."

He said 1:1 dribbling via the right analog stick. I guess that's confirmation. Sorry if I missed it elsewhere.

Oh man! Not the shot stick = dribble stick +/- trigger. Am I the only one who doesn't like that scheme?

Yeah, I don't remember seeing that in actual print anywhere else. As of right now, without any more information, the 2 bball games seem as if they are going to very similar control scheme wise.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't like it either, but I'm just going to suck it up and learn the new controls.

What would be the problem with a new control scheme? Maybe for dribbling it's right stick+left trigger. What's wrong with that? I don't think that would be hard to learn..

The idea of one stick that does 2 things (depends if a trigger is pulled) isn't may favorite. I guess I'll have to get used to it becuase I don't want to miss this game (as long as my computer can run it, of course).

I hear people saying all the time that the Isomotion was AWESOME in 2K8, so I don't really understand why 2K doesn't go back to that. Oh well, too late now...

Exactly. I always thought the isomotion controls were convoluted as hell and not even remotely what I would consider 'intuitive'. Live 10 started stepping the right direction; I'm hoping 2K can achieve a higher level of creativity now that they've really put their noggins and 'wang' to it.

But then again this is NOT officially the new control scheme so we have nothing to worry about......

Do you guys think that for dunking we'll have to pull both triggers (if a trigger is pressed for shooting + the second trigger for making it a dunk)? That's where it may get tricky.

                      Just an assumption, of course.

It would be interesting if both sticks controlled either hand while dribbling and even on defense to either try to steal with either hand or even to block shots with either hand. Or to make dribbling a little more detailed. Left stick to go left and right stick to go right. Eliminates the shot stick, but I stopped using that anyways.

That would kill the game for me. Too many actions to control something simple.

And dude, you don't use the shot stick but want advanced controls? Come on

No I don't think so I think dribbling will be possible No triggers involved.
-Shot stick will include L trigger shooting and Turbo certainly remains with Dunking and shot stick. Just a guess though
Edit: My control scheme is flawed.
                            I'm officially curious

So if you go for a dunk it's the stick + 2 triggers... oh man, that's too much to do.

Of course, all based on assumptions and I'll stop right now.
