What inspired everyones player on My Player?

I thought that this would be an interesting question. Since everyone has different reasons for their own players in MP. How did you guys come up with your players? Did you create yourself? Or did some of you use a player similar to a player you knew from school?

As for me, I couldn't see myself playing as myself in the NBA. Who wants to see a 5'7 guard barely able to touch the rim? lol Well, I am a HUGE stat junkie. I keep track of all of my players stats in my dynasty's and franchises. The player that I use on MP is my PG from my dynasty in College Hoops 2k8.
He was a 6'8 PG from The Citadel. He averaged PPG 12.4, RPG 6.9, APG 11.2 During his 4 years at the school. He had 1,521 total assists. He broke the NCAA record for assists. His overall rating never got higher then 62. He played well above his rating though. I think his height was a big factor in playing above his rating. I Decided to Use him for MP. Now he is playing alongside Deron Williams in Utah.

    What about you guys?

I tried to create a role player, didn't want to be a star player just play smart and good defense.

I essentially ended up with Jared Dudley. A good tough defender, offensively was an elite three point shooter. Problem with creating another Dudley was that being a three point marksman on pro is no fun. Ended up an all-star.

i made myself and tried to make the guy similar to how i play. combo guard with a decent jumper, tight defense and "meh" driving skills. kinda turned out like kirk hinrich in the end. i gave my player about 3 more inches than my real self incase i had to play SG a lot. i didn't wanna have a 6' shooter who gets swatted all day long by bigger 2's. ultimately, i wanted to develop a slashing and post game, but accidentally deleted the file a few months in

i started over a few weeks ago with a 6'10 athletic PF and i'm 3 games in with OKC. i wanna make an al horford type of player. just somebody to bang in the paint and be a decent 3rd option for the thunder

I wanted to make a Jason Kidd type with great defense, but ended up creating more of a Derrick Rose ype player with a lot less scoring. I gotta say he plays just like myself.

Mine was inspired by the type experience I wanted to have. I like the PG position, and a 6'5 athletic PG was intriguing to me. One of the reasons why I guess I enjoyed watching Tyreke Evans this past season.

I'm just weird, so I like creating players with made up stories in my head. And they're always the same. If anyone ever checks the whole list of players on you might see dozens of Calvin McDaniels's, Greg Alexander's, Marcel Matthews's and so on.

I almost never use myself in any sport but football.

I know what you mean, I tried going the route of making Bobby Hurley first. That was a mistake. At 6'0 166 lbs, making layups was next to impossible. Got swatted every time he got in the paint. Got kinda frustrating in the end. The idea of a Bobby Hurley was fun. I was a huge fan of his when I was a kid and he was at Duke.

Thats pretty cool Eman, I never had much of an imagination to make up my own story in my head. I guess thats why I lean towards using the players that I once had in the College Hoops 2k8.

I made myself. I happen to be just tall enough to possibly be an effective point guard (6'3'') and I thought it was a lot of fun to try and create a cyber version of myself, with my signature shot, runner, fallaway, free throw, etc. It was fun giving myself abilities and tendencies that were similar to my real life game but just juiced up to compete at an NBA level. It created a nice sense of immersion.

That's what I did in the Draft Combine and plan to do in 2K11.. I skipped 2K10.

I wanted to be the roleplayer SG that the 2010 Cavs were lacking. Then when they didn't sign me, I filled roles on other teams and eventually became a franchise player, still holding on to the dream of eventually being signed by the Cavs and building a dynasty next to LBJ.

Then in real life LeBron took his talents to South Beach. In the game he's still a Cavalier, but now my player's soul purpose in life is to take a giant dump on him and make them regret not signing me. In my 3rd year I jumped LBJ for the MVP race, my team is #1 and the LeCavs are battling for the 8th playoff seed.

I'm an undersized SG with a skillset comparable to D-Wade.

Thats pretty cool. I like the whole angle of wanting to be his side kick. But now he is your arch rival. Sounds good.

I didn't feel the need to spend on it. I was a little tight on money, and ultimately decided to wait for 2K11. And I'm happy I did. It looks to be shaping up to be a great game with some My Player improvements.

Since then though, I've just been downloading updated rosters and made final tweaks on it in 2K9. It's not the greatest offline basketball game, but it's been doing good for now.

Unless I missed it the previews mostly focus on gameplay.
