Wouldn't telling customers that the 2K series is being discontinued encourage customers to pick up the last 2K game ever? I'm pretty sure EA isn't involved in this.

When I went to trade in 2K10 and put it towards a pre order I actually had a nice convo with the guy about Elite being delayed, seemed pretty well informed considering he looked more like the 'dungeon master' type than a sports gamer.

Then again, EB employees in Canada don't seem to be as bad as what I hear about from south of the border around here.

That wouldn't happen to me because unlike most customers, I do a bit of research of my own about a product before walking into a store and buying it. Some customers like to blindly walk into a store, having no idea what they come in for expecting the employees to hold their hand.

i see that around here where i live. lots of parents go into gamestops and get BS'ed to about games and i listen and just shake my head.

I've been lucky I guess. The local Gamestop is in a nice area and not in some crowded mall, and its been the same guys working there for a while, so they all know me. They seem upfront and honest and helpful, and never shove marketing down your throat.

The peeps at my EB/Gamestop are totally opposite to the guys thhe op is talking about. The guys who work at EB near me are vets kinda at this and they don't lie. They actually know their stuff.
